A:AnswerAs the unit runs, it draws moisture from the air. This moisture condenses into water that is collected in the storage tank. Inside the unit, there is a slinger ring that picks up the water and flings it on the hot condenser so it can evaporate. Typically you will not need to empty the storage tank, except if there is excessive water. This may occur when you use Dehumidify Mode or when you first connect the air conditioner. If there is excess water (ex. from Dehumidify mode), you can either manually drain the storage tank or connect a garden hose to one of the drain ports on the back. Your portable air conditioner does not have a pump, so it relies on gravity to drain the storage tank. The connections are threaded to accept any standard garden hose. Some models have a single drain port for draining the excess water. Models with Dehumidify or Dehumidification Mode will have 2 drain ports on the back. A:AnswerHi Jes, thank you for reaching out to us! The window panel can be installed in a window with a minimum 20” (55.88 cm) to a maximum 46” (121.92) opening. We hope that this helps! Stay safe.
A:AnswerHi Poppy. Thanks for reaching out to us! Page 10 of your Use and Care manual offers a diagram that may help further. But, from said diagram, we're seeing that the air louvers are on top of the unit, below the control panel. This would put it more towards the top front of the unit. We hope that this helps! Stay safe.
A:AnswerNo it does not provide it's own air. It pulls air from the room (through leaks under the door etc) and blows hot air out the house. Ideally I would think you want a two-hose air conditioner, that brings in air as well as blowing it out. BTW, this is a great unit though some have added insulation to the hose as it does get hot which somewhat defeats cooling the room. Hope that helps. Consumer reports has a great short video that steps through the portable air conditioner types.
A:AnswerThe vent kit that fits in the window is a maximum length of 36 inches. GE may sell a larger kit to fit in a sliding glass door. The other option would be to buy a piece of Lexan or Plexiglass at the local glass shop and have them make a custom "filler" block roughly 12 - 14" inches wide and as tall as the sliding glass door opening so it fits into the tracks on the door. A hole would then have to be cut in this material for the exhaust duct to vent outside. As an example, I made my filler block out of 3/4" shelf board material and used the original vent kit as a template to cutout the required hole. Any rigid sheet material (e.g. plywood, plexiglass etc..) that can be cut to length and a hole cut for the duct to vent to the outside would also work and might be less expensive.
A:AnswerHi denara. The cooling watts for this unit are: 860. We hope that this helps! You can also take a look at the Quick Specs or the Installation Instructions for more information about electrical requirements. Thanks so much for your question.
A:AnswerHi there, thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to say this dual hose kit is not compatible with your air conditioner. If you're interested in a unit with dual hose compatibility, we suggest looking at model APCD08JASW. We hope this helps and we're wishing you the very best. - Guy@GEA
A:AnswerYou must have a window to vent the AC. As long as the window goes up and down or side to side you’ll be fine. It would need lots of adapting to put in a window that goes tilted out.
A:AnswerThis air conditioner should pull about 1000 W when the compressor is running. Should be fine with tv and fan but you will have to turn off when running refrigirator, etc
A:AnswerHi - We are so sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having. Please make sure the air conditioner has been placed on a firm, level floor. If the leaking continues, please refer to the Owner's Manual for information on handling in-warranty issues. All our best! Vikki@GEA
A:AnswerHello, thank you for your question. We're sincerely sorry you have had to drain your air conditioner so many times. This is not normal operation and we would love to look into this further as this is not the ownership experience we strive for. We recommend you follow the instructions listed on page 15 of your owner's manual for instructions on how to set up a service appointment, linked here: https://files.bbystatic.com/qOm76QrVOf2DkN4aVgdPrg%3D%3D/F8C70390-5B95-43DA-BF80-D6C18E2336AC.pdf We hope this helps! -Chris@GEA
A:AnswerHello, thank you for your question. We're sorry to hear that your air conditioner's controls are not allowing it to run properly. When the compressor cycles off, the fan that circulates the air in the room will continue to run for up to 3 minutes. The fan will also come on 3 minutes before the compressor cycles on. Regarding your unit's controls not operating properly, we are seeing that this air conditioner is a "Return to Vendor" model as parts for it are extremely limited. In this case, we recommend you reach out to Best Buy to evaluate what your options for repair or replacement are. Otherwise, please feel free to reach out to us on social media so we can assist you in finding a comparable unit. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. -Chris@GEA
