  • Key Specs
    • Recommended Room Size: 250 square feet (The recommended area size in which the product is designed to operate and produce optimal results, such as the desired heating or cooling. Generally, running a unit too big or too small for the space will result in ineffective operation and wasted energy.)
    • DOE SACC Cooling Power: 5600 british thermal units (The Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity (SACC), implemented by the Department of Energy (DOE) after 2017, is a rating of a portable AC unit's cooling power. This rating is based on revised testing that more accurately measures a portable unit's performance, taking into account that these units do not vent heat in the same way as wall or window units and therefore were not cooling as effectively as the previous BTU ratings indicated (based on the ASHRAE-128 standard prior to 2017). Generally, the new cooling power ratings are lower than previous BTU ratings and can more reasonably be compared to the cooling capacities of other types of AC units.)
    • ASHRAE Cooling Power: 8500 british thermal units (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) rates the cooling power, or capacity, of portable AC units based on their effectiveness in cooling a single room as intended. Prior to 2017, this was the accepted standard used for comparison with other types of AC units. However, it did not accurately reflect the cooling power as it did not account for the heat emitted from the unit that would circulate back into the space. The Department of Energy (DOE) Seasonally Adjusted Cooling Capacity (SACC) standard is now used to determine appropriate BTU ratings of portable AC units.)
    • Number of Cool Settings: 3
    • Number of Fan Speeds: 3
    • Airflow Rate: 175 cubic feet per minute
    • Remote Control: true
    • Integrated Heater: false
    • Sleep Mode: false (Enabling this mode sets the unit to first reach the desired temperature, then gradually increase the temperature over a period of time until it reaches a new set temperature, typically several degrees higher than the initial cool setting. This mode helps save energy while keeping the room comfortable.)
    • Timer: true
    • Auto Shut-Off: false (Feature automatically turns off the product.)
    • Window Venting Kit: true (Indicates whether supplies for venting the unit through a window are included.)
    • Energy Efficiency Ratio: 6.4 (The ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) at a given operating point. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)
    • Combined Energy Efficiency Ratio (CEER): 5.64 (The standard used to measure energy efficiency in window and room air conditioners by the Department of Energy (DOE) as of June of 2014. CEER measures the ratio of output BTUs (British Thermal Units) to input electrical energy (watts) in standby mode and while the unit is operating. Generally, the higher the number, the more efficient the unit. Though higher efficiency units are typically more expensive upfront, they may offset the price in energy costs over time.)
    • App Compatible: false (The product can be connected to a program or software application on a mobile device, which then receives collected data from the product.)
    • Wireless Connectivity: None (The manner in which a device sends data to another device over a short distance without the use of wires or cables.)
    • Air Conditioner Type: Portable
    • Hose Configuration: Single (Generally, dual hose configurations are more efficient and better suited for cooling larger areas. Single hose configurations typically consume less energy and are best for cooling smaller spaces.)

Q: is there a drip pan/bucket? how is condensation dealt with or is that the exhaust hose or is it even an issue? (have never had a portable a/c but need is now immediate being that I have co-workers who are cold at 76°!)

A: As the unit runs, it draws moisture from the air. This moisture condenses into water that is collected in the storage tank. Inside the unit, there is a slinger ring that picks up the water and flings it on the hot condenser so it can evaporate. Typically you will not need to empty the storage tank, except if there is excessive water. This may occur when you use Dehumidify Mode or when you first connect the air conditioner. If there is excess water (ex. from Dehumidify mode), you can either manually drain the storage tank or connect a garden hose to one of the drain ports on the back. Your portable air conditioner does not have a pump, so it relies on gravity to drain the storage tank. The connections are threaded to accept any standard garden hose. Some models have a single drain port for draining the excess water. Models with Dehumidify or Dehumidification Mode will have 2 drain ports on the back. Q: what is the smallest size window this can be vented to?

A: Hi Jes, thank you for reaching out to us! The window panel can be installed in a window with a minimum 20” (55.88 cm) to a maximum 46” (121.92) opening. We hope that this helps! Stay safe.

Q: How long is the hose? This unit is for a basement and the windows are higher then they would be on a first floor.

A: 60" There's a unit 1 size up that's taller & maybe Has a bigger hose?.

Q: Were does the cool blow from is it the top or front top

A: Hi Poppy. Thanks for reaching out to us! Page 10 of your Use and Care manual offers a diagram that may help further. But, from said diagram, we're seeing that the air louvers are on top of the unit, below the control panel. This would put it more towards the top front of the unit. We hope that this helps! Stay safe.

Q: Does this unit depressurize the room it is in? I want to use it in a super-efficient, super-tight Passive House "tiny house"- and air leaks will not be enough makeup air unless it provides its own. We will have an ERV for anyone interested about air!

A: No it does not provide it's own air. It pulls air from the room (through leaks under the door etc) and blows hot air out the house. Ideally I would think you want a two-hose air conditioner, that brings in air as well as blowing it out. BTW, this is a great unit though some have added insulation to the hose as it does get hot which somewhat defeats cooling the room. Hope that helps. Consumer reports has a great short video that steps through the portable air conditioner types.

Q: What is the length/width of the vent kit? I am trying to put this by my sliding door, but am not sure if the vent kit would be large enough to fit the sliding door, or if I should purchase attachments.

A: The vent kit that fits in the window is a maximum length of 36 inches. GE may sell a larger kit to fit in a sliding glass door. The other option would be to buy a piece of Lexan or Plexiglass at the local glass shop and have them make a custom "filler" block roughly 12 - 14" inches wide and as tall as the sliding glass door opening so it fits into the tracks on the door. A hole would then have to be cut in this material for the exhaust duct to vent outside. As an example, I made my filler block out of 3/4" shelf board material and used the original vent kit as a template to cutout the required hole. Any rigid sheet material (e.g. plywood, plexiglass etc..) that can be cut to length and a hole cut for the duct to vent to the outside would also work and might be less expensive.

Q: What is the wattage?

A: Hi denara. The cooling watts for this unit are: 860. We hope that this helps! You can also take a look at the Quick Specs or the Installation Instructions for more information about electrical requirements. Thanks so much for your question.

Q: Is this model compatible with the GE RAP02 Dual hose kit, or is there any other kit that can convert this portable AC to a Dual hose system?

A: Hi there, thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to say this dual hose kit is not compatible with your air conditioner. If you're interested in a unit with dual hose compatibility, we suggest looking at model APCD08JASW. We hope this helps and we're wishing you the very best. - Guy@GEA
