A:AnswerHi Perk,
Thank you for the interest! You need an active subwoofer to make it work. Also, the AV receiver is compatible with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms for speakers. Lower than 6 or higher than 16 ohms will not work with this unit.
Hope this helps!

A:AnswerHi Tony,
Does your television support HDMI ARC? If so, connect the AV receiver to your TV using a high-speed HDMI cable.(ARC to ARC) Check the link below for more details.

A:AnswerHi exorthodoc, thank you for your question. To connect a turntable that only has a PHONO output jack, you need to connect a phono equalizer (not supplied) between the turntable and this receiver. ~Earl
A:AnswerThe fronts of the front feet are set back about 1 1/2" from the front of the STR-DH590 receiver. The fronts of the knobs stick out an additional 3/4" beyond the front of the receiver (in case you have glass doors on your shelving unit). I cannot recommend any other receivers.
A:AnswerHi Susan,
Thanks for the interest! We recommend connecting wired speakers with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms. We also recommend using speaker wires that are anywhere between 12 to 16 gauge. These are most commonly used for connecting speakers to an amplifier or an Audio/Video (A/V) receiver.
Hope this helps!

A:AnswerHi CarpenterJon,
If the cable box is connected to the AV receiver, you have to turn on the AV receiver to make it work. You can connect the cable box directly to the TV and simply don't turn on the AV receiver.

David
A:Answerabsolutely not!!! It will work great with those speakers. This has 145 watts per channel and the speakers are capable of handling 100 watts. I have a pair of Paradygm bookshelf speakers for the front and some 26 year old sony speakers in the back and thinking of getting these for the back to replace them. I also have the sony sc 5 center speaker and the sony cs5 sub woofer to go along with the receiver. Chances of you listening to anything over 100 decibels for very long is doubtful unless you want hearing loss.
