Hello, I have my audio going from my cable box to this receiver via HDMI. When using the apps on my TV the audio comes through the TV speakers. I added a optical cable from my tv to the receiver but not getting any sound. Is their a setting for this? null

Hi Tony,

Does your television support HDMI ARC? If so, connect the AV receiver to your TV using a high-speed HDMI cable.(ARC to ARC) Check the link below for more details.

Usually you will connect your TV to the unit using the ARC HDMI port. It should transit audio back from the TV to the receiver. 
If you want to use optical, you have to enable in your TV settings. The downside of optical is that surround decoding isn't reliable.
As for the receiver settings, I'm not sure. Maybe that helps?
