• Hi Perk, Thank you for the interest! You need an active subwoofer to make it work. Also, the AV receiver is compatible with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms to 16 ohms for speakers. Lower than 6 or higher than 16 ohms will not work with this unit. Hope this helps! David

• You will need a powered subwoofer. If you want to use your passive subwoofer you will need to buy a cheap amplifier to drive it.
