Worth for the price
||Posted .I got this one in a deal and paid $199. For this price, this is an excellent product. It has larger bin and it is slimmer compared to other similar products. I tried it for a week and I was not able to track if it actually cleaned entire home most of the time. This one doesn’t have map that shows the area cleaned. I replaced it with Roomba 960 which is more systematic and the cleaned area can be tracked. This is a really good product, but I was looking for similar product with more tracking mechanism.

A great alternative to the competitor. And more.
||Posted .Two things to sell on this - after looking at a few months of history an data, we've determined we've saved at least 30 hours a month by running the Ion. Right there, value reached. Some other interesting points is that this is the same cost, if not cheaper than the rival Roomba iRobot model, except the feature set is explosive comparitively. I learned that there are "linear" robot vacuums and then what are referred to as "drunken sailors"...difference being one learns your home layout, the other wanders and makes no sense then just dies and splat. A great supporting smartphone app, troubleshooting instructions as soon as something happens, and all around great customer experience. Buy it and put cats in the room too. You deserve it for spending the money :)

Great performance at a great value
|Posted .So you're looking for a robotic vacuum to add to your home. You have a lot of things to consider while shopping: price, size, run time, charge time, floor/carpet style, and many more aspects. So does the Shark ION Robot 750 fit the bill? Yes, but with some caveats. UNBOXING: The unboxing experience of the Shark ION was very pleasant and hassle-free. The instructions are printed very clearly on a large cardboard panel , and I had no issues getting set up with the ION. Snap the two brushes onto the bottom of the robot, and you're almost ready to go. Simply place the charging dock against a wall with 3 ft. clearance on the left and right, and 5 ft. clearance in front of the dock. This is crucial, as the robot finds the dock via some light sensors on the dock. USING THE ION: After a full charge of the robot (about 3 hours from 0% to full), you're ready to start the robot! There are several ways to get your ION to begin vacuuming. The first way is to press the "Clean" button on the robot, itself. Also on the vacuum is a power switch (which you can just leave on all the time), a "Dock" button to send the ION back to its dock (but it will do this by itself after it feels it is done cleaning), and a "Spot" button which you can use to have the ION clean a particular spot on the floor more thoroughly. APP INTEGRATION: The second way to use your ION is by using the Shark ION Robot app on the App Store / Play Store. This app will connect your robot to your local 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (NOTE: it cannot be 5GHz Wi-Fi—please temporarily disable your router's 5GHz channel if it uses the same SSID as your 2.4GHz channel; you can re-enable it after setup). Once your robot is connected to the Wi-Fi, you can use the app to remotely start up, pause, and dock the ION. Additionally, you are able to schedule a cleaning time for each day of the week. Unfortunately, you can only schedule 1 cleaning per day—this is a limitation likely imposed by the run time and charge time, as well as regulating the lifespan of the device, itself. If you happen to lose your ION around the house, you can also find it by pressing a button in the app which will cause the ION to make a loud noise. The app will also tell you the ION's status (cleaning, charging, paused, returning to dock), as well as its battery status. What's especially nice, however, is that the app can send push notifications whenever there's an issue with the ION—such as when the ION gets stuck somewhere and can no longer move or when there's a clog in the brushroll. VOICE ASSISTANT INTEGRATION: Additionally, you can use Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to send commands to your ION. I've personally tested this using Google Assistant. Once you have your ION connected to your Wi-Fi, you can simply open the Google Home app, then under the "Googel Assistant" section, go to "Explore" then search for "Shark". From there, you'll be able to link your Shark account with Google Assistant. Now you can use Google Assistant to say things like: "OK Google, tell Shark to start cleaning." "OK Google, tell Shark to pause my robot." "OK Google, tell Shark to send my robot to the dock." Just like the app, this feature works anytime, anywhere—not just at home. CLEANING ALGORITHM: So is the ION actually good at cleaning? Yes and no. It does a good job and is more thorough in smaller spaces (you can create boundaries using the included BotBoundary Strips), but if you let it try to clean an entire floor, it may not be as thorough. This is largely because the ION's path algorithm isn't as complex as more expensive robot vacuums, as it doesn't seem to map out your house. Instead, its cleaning path will differ each run so that it will attempt to clean areas that it did not cover the previous run. Obviously, this isn't as effective as mapping out the house and having complex object detection to further determine its position around the house. As a result, the cleaning path is somewhat random, so your carpet won't have a nice pattern of track marks—rather, it will seem obscure and random. Regardless, each run I am finding plenty of lint and dust being picked up by my ION. And by scheduling a daily cleaning, you'll ensure a more thorough clean. When a cleaning session begins, the ION runs for about one hour. Given that the charge time is about 3 hours, this means you could theoretically run a full 1-hour cleaning session approximately 6 times in a 24 hour period—now that's impressive, albeit not recommended. CLEANING PERFORMANCE: On my kitchen floors, the ION does a good job sweeping and picking up scraps (when it actually runs across the affected areas). My biggest concern with the ION was whether or not it'd be able to work with my carpet—and it definitely does! It easily transitions between my flat kitchen floor to my living room carpet without any issues. However, Shark warns that the ION may struggle with some high pile carpets. With its brushrull and both side brushes, the ION does a decent job at keeping my floor and carpets clean by taking care of loose debris. DOCKING ALGORITHM: This is one of the ION's weaker points. Because the ION doesn't really keep a mapping of its path, it takes longer to get back to its dock when compared to more advanced robot vacuums. From my own observations, the ION will typically navigate around until it detects the light sensors on the docking station. This means that if you have a more complicated layout or have objects or walls obstructing the view of the dock, the ION will take longer to return to the dock. That being said, as long as you set up the dock according to the included instructions, it shouldn't fail to find the dock. HOW SHARK COULD IMPROVE THE CLEANING/DOCKING ALGORITHM: As a software engineer, I can see many ways that Shark could have alleviated the performance/efficiency shortcomings. For one, they could create a rough route path every time the ION cleans. That way, it could avoid unnecessarily cleaning the same area multiple times, and when it needs to return to the dock, it could use the "shortest path algorithm" to more easily find its way back based on its waypoints. Another possiblity (that requires more expensive hardware) is that Shark could have used a radio wave connection to the dock and used signal strength detection to determine when it is getting closer or further away from the dock. Both of these suggestions certainly have limitations and other issues to consider, but when combined with the onboard sensors, either mechanism could improve the efficiency of the device. CONCLUSION: So, would I recommend the Shark ION 750 robotic vacuum? Yes. It's certainly not as efficient, powerful or as smart as other expensive vacuums, but for a robot vacuum in this price point, it delivers the right features and gets the job done while making acceptable compromises. After all, the purpose of having a robot vacuum is so we can avoid having to vacuum, ourselves. The Shark ION 750 definitely accomplishes that, as it runs daily while I'm away from home. When I get home, the ION is docked and out of the way, and my floors are cleaner than they were before I left for work. Unless you're at home while the ION is running, you kind of forget that it's even there—and that's a good thing. It's not something you'll be worrying about or be thinking about. It does its job and gets out of your way, leaving you to focus on things other than cleaning.

Good starter robot for keeping things touched up
|Posted .I’ve always wanted to get one of these robot vacuums, but the price has always been rather steep. This Shark ION Robot is among the lowest priced. With that, it’s not the “best” on the market, but for the price it gets the job done. With having pets in the house, this thing is even more useful as it can get fur and dander up while you sleep. It works great on hard floor and carpet and has had no issue transitioning between the two. The app controlled 750 model allows you to schedule a time per day, initiate clean and dock from your phone, from anywhere, once you have it connected to your home Wi-Fi. The app setup and connection is simple, however, be aware that the ION Robot only works on the 2.4 Ghz band and may require some network changes if you have a newer router that uses a single SSID for both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands if you don’t see it as an option when setting it up. The Shark ION Robot does have smart sensor navigation and is fun to watch it avoid some objects. It will avoid falling down stairs on its own and with the included magnetic strip you can force it to avoid other open areas as well. However, in tight spaces it will bump its way around till it finds an opening which can get its self stuck under the edge of furniture. Such in my case under the end table it would get stuck on the back edge of my couch sometimes. However, with the app it will provide a notification that it is stuck and you can locate the robot with an audible beep. This robot does not map your house out and does not appear to even understand the shape of a room. It will drive at an angle till it gets to an object and move to a new angle from there. This may result in some spots in a large area being missed, however, as I have a schedule set for every night, it eventually has covered the entire floor, to include under some tables I rarely get to myself. Every once in a while I will take it upstairs and force a clean by pressing the button, in which it will run for about an hour and cut itself off. On my main floor where the docking station is, it will return to the dock, bumping itself along till it gets in line of site with it, which can take a good while on its own. The Spot clean option will attempt to clean in a circular pattern, provided no walls are nearby. However, I attempted a spot clean on some dry dog food on a hard floor and the outside brushes pushed it around more than it looked like it picked up, making a nice clear circle with dog food all over the place around it. For the price it is worth it. This robot has saved me a lot of time and helped keep my house in a cleaner state than it usually is. It has also provided a little bit of entertainment watching the animals react to it.

Outsource my chores!
|Posted .I dislike vacuuming but it’s a necessary evil as I have 2 dogs, 1 cat and carpeted living room. Pros: *Great everyday upkeep *1 hour of solid vacuuming *Easy to use phone app Cons: *Dump bins needs frequent emptying *Need to carefully layout house as the robot can get stuck easy *Odd carpet patterns from the random zig zag of the robot Both dogs and my human counterpart sheds like no other. Needing to vacuum every day is ideal but realistically, I get to it about once a week if that. Having the ability to program the robot to automatically vacuum on days I choose and when I choose is fantastic! I have mine currently vacuuming every day at 11:30pm. I envision that my carpets on my main floor be fully vacuumed before I start the new day. With that being said, it’s still a work in progress as I’m constantly finding new ways for my robot to get stuck. Once underneath the dinner table, a few times stuck between the rug and couch and another time wedged under the bar stool. I would say I only had 1 successful night out of 7 that the robot will start to clean and find its charging base when it’s done. I don’t fully blame the designers but do share the responsibility in pushing in all the chairs at the dinner table, using the “off boundary” strips to the kitchen, essentially “robot proofing” the main level. But as of late, I’ve come to expect the robot to find it stuck in a new spot that I didn’t foresee it getting stuck in. My fiancé and I have a running bet to see where the robot managed to get itself stuck again upon heading downstairs for breakfast. When the robot does make a complete 1 hour cleaning, I’m actually surprised how much the robot picked up in the dust bin. Even after vacuuming my carpets with a regular vacuum, the robot still ends up with a full bin at night. When it does run and you’re in the room, its not as loud as a full vacuum. I would guess its half as loud and not noticeable when we are upstairs sleeping. Dumping the bin is easy and no need to get your hands dirty when doing so. The robot isn’t completely dumb as it does have a bump sensor and some kind of proximity sensor to keep itself from running into a wall. It gets in trouble when its trying to navigate between chair legs, uneven surfaces where a rug is, etc. It appears to make a left turn every time the front bump sensor is triggered. And if its triggered 3 times in a very short period, it will turn right instead of left and repeat the process. The app is a nice feature instead of having a dedicated remote control for the robot. I open the app and I can have the robot to start cleaning, spot cleaning, dock if cleaning, see battery levels, and schedule future cleanings. You can also use the app to “ring” your robot so you can spot it underneath a bed or couch when it becomes stuck and turns off the suction. While the app may sound robust, it lacks a “progress” or cleaning maps that a competitor’s robot vacuum offers. I like the idea of programming a certain route for your robot to follow so you can have regular “back and forth” vacuum lines in the carpet. Right now, it looks like an abstract painting with the random paths the robot takes to vacuum an open space. This may bother some people including me as I tend to have OCD tendencies. I would recommend this robot vacuum for families that are too busy to be vacuuming every day. It doesn’t replace a real vacuum cleaner but it does a fantastic job at maintaining your carpets in between real vacuum cleanings.

Outstanding Shark Robot Vaccum. Really Impressed.
|Posted .Shark is market leader in Upright vacuum and they entered into Robot vacuum market with Shark Ion Robot 750. It is my first robotic vacuum and a very good cleaning tool. Packing was excellent and setup is very easy with the instructions provided in the box. I have downloaded the Shark ION ROBOT app from App Store in my iPhone 7 plus and configured Ion Robot quickly to control remotely. The performance of this vacuum exceeded my expectations. Cleaning always painful as we were not able to reach many locations due to many furniture. ION Robot did a great job reaching out many places under the tables, SOFA and picked all debris without any issues. It has great suction power and excellent battery life. With single charge, it was able to clean my entire living room. The docking charging station takes minimum space and it can be placed anywhere. Battery life is around 40 mins in this model, i hope Shark will increase the battery capacity in future models. I really liked the feature of remote control which is great feature especially every house is moving towards home automation. Setup is extremely easy in app. Once connected, you can setup schedule cleanup and remotely access the device from anywhere. I am really impressed with its performance, cleaning, design and cost. I would highly recommend Shark ION Robot 750 to anyone without any hesitation.

Great Robot for the Price
Posted .We purchased this Robot after doing some thorough research. We weren't really down with spending 700 to 1k for our first Robot. After endless videos and sifting through reviews we decided on this Shark 750 because of its price and great reviews. The 720 and 750 are the same machine with the addition of wifi on the 750. It's only like 30 bucks more for the 750. So our home is one floor, all commercial laminate and tile. We have few transitions for flooring and this 750 navigates over them like nothing. We own two dogs and live in a very dusty area. First day we picked it up, we decided to do a test. We swept the house as we normally would and let the 750 run after we were done, without charging it. It ran on about 10 minutes worth of battery life it had and we were blown away. WE HAD JUST SWEPT! The shark was able to collect a pretty good size dust ball and accumulated plenty of dog hair. Later that night we ran it for about an hour on a complete charge and it actually had about another 20 minutes of battery left. The 750 picked up so much dust that it left us blown away again! My floors look so clean! I don't feel the dust under my feet when barefoot. Even when we vaccumm our floors in the past, we weren't as thorough as this 750 as it makes multiple passes through the entire house. We are super pleased with this purchase. The app is pretty cool as you can control it from work. It doesn't get stuck and didn't get caught on my charger today, it navigated over the line and then backed out of there. The bumper has been stuck once and it was simple to release. The filter on this is a huge plus. Accessing the large canister is easy. Cleaning it out is easy. If you can afford this and don't want to go crazy on a Neato or Irobot go for the kill in this bad boy. The only way you will be disappointed is if you are unrealistic. But even then I don't see how you can be unrealistic. It's a vacuum. It vacuums well, navigates my home and is able to maneuver even over the round base of my barstool. I RECCOMEND THIS SO MUCH THAT I TOOK THE TIME AND MADE IT A POINT TO WRITE THIS REVIEW! This photo is of the first run we did after we had just swept!!!

Q: QuestionMy shark ion robot keeps stopping and flashing the error that indicates there is something wrong with the main brush roller but when I inspect there is no visible issue. Help!!!
Asked by Dustinrobot.
- A:Answer I had this issue and I fixed it! My vacuum would just stop, give his little error message, and the DOCK and SPOT lights would just blink and I would have to go and press clean again. All i could find online were people saying to clean out the main brush, but we had cleaned it multiple times and it never fixed. Until we took the little piece off the end of the brush (accidentally) and there was a huge wad of fur around the pin! We cleaned all the hair out of that little spot and we haven't had a problem since

Q: QuestionMy Ion 750 just beeps and spins I circle - any ideas on fixing?
Asked by Cbj1911.
- A:Answer my shark ion robot 750 just started doing this a few days ago....I cleaned every possible brush, wheels and it continued....call the manufacturer and was told that it was possible that its caused by a front wheel malfunction... to the best of my knowledge, there are NO electrical connections to that wheel, it just snaps into place,so,...on a hunch, I took off the battery door {Philips screwdriver required}… unplugged the battery for a few seconds, plugged it back in....it went into dock mode,...I pushed spot mode and it started the process for several minutes and went to normal clean mode....it is currently still cleaning.... seems to be working fine now...wont know for sure until it docks, recharges, and I hit clean again

Q: QuestionMy robot is not working right all the sudden. It will run fine for about 5 mins then stops it give the alert sound like it is stuck even though it is not and stops running. The clean light flashes. I've taken every thing apart and cleaned it. Help!!!
Asked by Nancy3227.
- A:Answer Same with mine, called Shark, they were very nice, walked me through multiple steps to clean all the sensors and now seems to be working fine. Had dog hair stuck under main front wheel blocking sensors. There are 3 sensors located under the small front wheel. Also be careful when taking apart front wheel not to loose the little clear washer on the wheel rod. Instructed me to call back if issue not resolved but so far so good. : )

Q: QuestionMy shark ion robot won’t charge. It’s brand new. I found it completely dead in a corner of my kitchen (hardwood floor) . I put on the dock to charge and 24 hrs later it was still dead. No lights even. Nothing caught in it. How do I get it to charge?

- A:Answer Check on off switch. May have accidentally bumped it off.

Q: QuestionWhat is the noise level of this machine, please? I'm doing comparisons on brands and one brand stated, by several users, that theirs were very loud. Thank you
Asked by Dakota.
- A:Answer Nice unit and does the cleaning job very well. Noise level for me on hardwood and tile floor is low. I have to look for it sometimes to see if it is still running unless it gets in a bind or stuck. I personally like and it works well. Only draw back is it randomly cleans and does not learn of where obstacles are or use a pattern to clean. No navigation system like some higher end models. Overall 5 stars as the latter is just personal.

Q: QuestionWe have thick pads under our area rugs, will the ION-Robot be able to get over the height of the area rugs? We have several of them throughout the house. We bought a RUMBA and it was not able to get over them.
Asked by TNT.
- A:Answer It really depends on the height it must climb. I have rugs over a half inch thick and mine made it over with no problem.

Q: QuestionIs it possible to run the Shark Ion Robot RV750 at night when it’s almost or is completely dark? Or does there have to be some form of light?
Asked by Jairmee.
- A:Answer Like the sharks in the Ocean, our Ion Robot has no problem functioning in darkness. It has a few different sensors and uses infrared (like TV remotes) to "see" objects around it. You see this when it comes up to a large obstacle (like a wall), it slows as it approaches and never touches the object. If it encounters a small object (like the leg of a chair), it doesn't "see" it but stops when the "touch" sensors come into contact with the leg. It has infrared sensors that "see" when it's coming to a ledge and reverses directions. It also has magnetic sensors to stop it from going across any magnetic boundary strips.

Q: QuestionJust purchased a shark ION robot RV700. Can I pick up the Shark and place it in the upstairs bedroom and manually hit the clean button without confusing the device for normal cleaning on the first floor?
Asked by Vicki.
- A:Answer Hello Vicki, We are happy to confirm that you can pick up the vacuum and use it in a different room. When you put it in the room you can press the Clean button on the vacuum to start it. This will not affect its cleaning on another floor. We hope this information helps. The Customer Support Team
