- A: AnswerIt has a W/T lever near the shutter button for motorzed zoom, or you can use the ring on the lens. (Use both so the motor does most of the work and then you fine tune with the ring). In settings you can switch the inner and outer lens rings to choose which is zoom and which is focus

- A: AnswerThe zoom range is fantastic for telephoto. Just be aware the widest angle is a 24mm equivalent. There is no shutter lag. You may also shoot 24fps bursts to make sure you capture the right moment. The AF is so fast, it keeps the subject in focus throughout. I chose this camera over a DSLR so I don't have to worry about carrying lenses and changing lenses. I have been very happy with this camera for travel, nature and wildlife pics. I captured everything I wanted to on my overseas trip, from a wedding to hiking to family photos. It was easy to get great photos of birds and bats from a distance. Kids are the hardest to capture because they move fast. This camera always kept up with them.

- A: AnswerThe internet is full of people willing to share how to set up the Sony rx10 iv. To make use of Clear Image Zoom, you cannot use RAW format, just jpg. So, camera ! page 1, set the quality to extra fine so the image size would be L:20M. Make use of all the megapixels you can. Camera2 page 6/10, change the zoom setting to On:ClearImage Zoom. Now you are set. On the screen it will show that when you zoom out to 600mm, it can go more and will show x2 when you reach the max of 1200mm. From 600mm to 1200mm is when ClearImage Zoom is activated. As for the focusing, there are many different metering modes, multi, center, large spot or standard, entire screen, or highlight. Focusing mode had wide, center, flexible spot large, medium, small, expand flexible spot, or lock on AF:expand flexible spot. Experiment.

Q: QuestionIs there a preferred Zeiss lens for this camera? Thanks!(3 answers)
A: AnswerIt is a fixed lens camera not interchangeable lens, so that lens it has is the only Zeiss lens you can use.Answered by Anthonyg1681
- A: AnswerI use the SanDisk 256GB Extreme Pro SD card. It’s fairly priced and provides writing and reading speeds near 95MB/s. It’s a card I recommend for almost every camera that costs under $2000, because of it’s great price to performance ratio. You get one of these and it’s yours for years. The speed makes it perfect for whatever you’re doing; fast bursts with large megapixel cameras, 4K video, let alone Full HD. It comes in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB sizes. It is hands down the best choice for the Sony RX10 IV!

- A: AnswerHi Captain, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. This camera does not have time lapse feature and Sony does not have accessory that can be added to the camera that can make it possible. Thank you so much for your question. And thank you for choosing Sony. - Pakorn (Sony Social Support)

Q: Questionwhere can i look at the manual before i pirchase the camera?(2 answers)
A: AnswerThe user manual for this camera can be downloaded in PDF format from the Sony website. Also, there are several books written about the camera that help to explain the numerous settings available. I purchased one written by Alexander S. White that I've downloaded to my iPad so I can refer to it when necessary. The camera can be complex. Its capabilities are beyond my needs, but it met all my requirements for what will probably be my forever camera.Answered by Gary
Q: QuestionDoes the RX10 Mk4 have a life expectancy associated with the number of shutter clicks?(1 answer)
A: AnswerI own this camera and always use the electronic shutter option. Why? Because at 24 shots/sec. high speed bursts, I would wear out the mechanical shutter in a year or two! Importantly, the RX10 MK4's electronic shutter has a nice-functioning software that virtually eliminates the dreaded "rolling shutter" effect!Answered by Gary

Best camera for the money
This is a professional quality camera with two major benefits not seen in any of its competitor products: 1) it has Sony's best autofocus system and 2) it has the longest zoom range of any camera of this type except for one model from Nikon which is inferior in every respect. 1. Autofocus. You will want to use the "center lock-on AF" option whenever you have a moving subject. This causes the camera to dynamically focus on your intended object even if it moves in the frame and even if it temporarily moves OUT of the frame and then back in. If you are trying to photograph moving objects (children, animals) this feature is a game-changer. It even works BOTH for movies and still shots. No camera manufacturer has autofocus as good as Sony. This camera can focus in 0.03 seconds without the "hunting" seen in contrast-detection autofocus systems. 2. The lens. This lens is nothing short of spectacular. You can get reasonable wide angle shots and stunning telephoto shots without changing lenses. The goal of all photography is to "get the shot" which is more difficult if you have to fumble to change the lens when you need either a wider or more telephoto shot. You don't need to do that with this camera due to the incredible lens range. This lens is also tack sharp at all focal lengths. To get comparable-quality lenses for an interchangeable lens camera you would have to spend at least $2000 for each of at least 2 lenses! Some have suggested that the sensor on this camera is too small for low light work. I can tell you I sold a micro 4/3 camera which a sensor about twice as large as the 1 inch sensor in this camera, and this camera takes better pictures, including in low light. The price is high on this camera; no other camera manufacturer makes a "point and shoot" camera this expensive, but as in all other areas in life, you get what you pay for. This is the kind of camera one would want to buy and use for literally everything for years. I couldn't be happier with it.

EZ travels.
Had an upcoming trip with the grandkids and did not want to be carrying a full size backpack with for my camera and lenses as I usually do. So I began checking and researching cameras that would best fulfill my needs. This Sony, (I shoot Canon), ticked almost all the boxes for me. Had a couple of days to play with it and learn the menus, (ouch), and functions before the trip. It would be helpful if there were more functions or controls on the body so you would not have to go into the menus for some of the basics. Lighted shooting for photos and video was sharp and accurate and as expected darker situations were more challenging but you learn to compensate and accept what it can do and can’t, had my share of grainy ones. And don’t expect much out of the on camera flash, had a few shots with a nice lens shadow, was able to crop it out. Better to invest in a decent mountable flash. I am very happy with what this camera could do and it’s a lot easier packing and traveling. Being a Total Tech member at Best Buy, I could have returned it if I was not satisfied, but decided to keep and use it for my upcoming trips. If Sony makes an updated version that addresses a couple of the shortcomings, (sensor size, controls), I would probably purchase it. Expensive, but for my purposes, worth it.

So far an excellent and versatile choice
I have read a number of reviews and mulled over the decision to get this camera and have not been disappointed(with one exception). First the good. Fast and I mean fast sports mode at 24 fps Fast zoom and it can go all the way to 2400mm digital zoom but some quality is lost doing that. Excellent quality slow mo and 4k video. Good low light quality and anti-shake. My only complaint would be that in HFR mode(slo mo) i can not zoom in and the amount of time it can record is limited. Good bokeh also. Overall i am very happy with the purchase.
