Q: Can this be used for a secondary monitor for a Mac computer.
A: Hi there! We understand your situation in setting up the LG 32SR73U W Smart Monitor as a secondary display for your Mac. The good news is this model offers multiple ways to connect: USB‑C (65 W Power Delivery): If your Mac has a Thunderbolt 3/4 or USB‑C port, simply connect it to the monitor’s USB‑C upstream port. Your Mac should automatically detect the display; then head to System Preferences > Displays to arrange and scale your screens. HDMI 2.0: For Macs without USB‑C video output, use a USB‑C or Thunderbolt‑to‑HDMI adapter (or an HDMI cable if you have an HDMI‑capable Mac). After plugging in, select the corresponding HDMI input on the monitor via the Home Dashboard. AirPlay & Screen Share: macOS supports AirPlay to compatible displays—on your Mac, click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar, choose LG‑Smart‑Monitor, and your desktop will wirelessly extend or mirror onto the 32SR73U. As a first troubleshooting step, if your Mac doesn’t detect the monitor via USB‑C or HDMI, open the monitor’s Input menu, confirm you’re on the correct source, and then reboot both devices. You can also press the Auto Adjust button in the monitor’s OSD (on‑screen display) to optimize the signal. For more detailed guidance, please refer to the “Connections” section of the 32SR73U Owner’s Manual on our website under Product Manuals. https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-32sr73u-w-smart-monitor#pdp_specs If you run into any hiccups or need personalized assistance, please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport and our team will be more than happy to explore possible solutions. I got this to replace my wife's 27" LG as she works with Excel and Quickbooks all day and I figured the bump in size would make a meaningful difference to her. And, boy, does it. She loves it. We have almost side by side his / her desks in our home office and I'm so jealous of her new monitor - my 27" looks downright puny compared to this 32". I have it connected to her M1 MacBook Air. I first tried the included HDMI cable and a USB-C dock she had been using but I could only get a 30Hz refresh rate with that setup. So, I then pulled out a USB-C cable I had laying around and made a USB-C to USB-C connection and, again, could only get 30Hz. So I ended up having to resort to a true Thunderbolt cable that I had and, with that, I was able to get a very nice 60Hz refresh rate. I'm not sure if the USB-C cable I had was just of low quality or if thunderbolt is required to get the higher refresh. Regardless, not only do we get 60Hz with this cable, but it also now charges the MacBook Air when she's plugged in. The display she's getting is of 'retina' quality so text is super sharp and crisp. Now, webOS. This is a smart monitor so one can think of it essentially as your streaming device and monitor combined into one. Essentially, a television set if all you use is streaming to get your shows and movies. Thus, there are apps either pre-installed or that you can load from LG's app 'store.' All the usual suspects are here so you will not miss any apps. However, webOS is pretty slow - after awhile you'll get tired of seeing that spinning circle while you try to open app, change from an input, etc. Luckily for us, my wife really only wanted to use this as a huge monitor rather than as a streaming device. One other nice thing are the built in speakers. I was surprised that this has speakers built in. It's a nice touch and they sound pretty good but if you're going to use this for music and streaming, you'll want to attach a nice set of computer speakers. All in all, she's very happy with this upgrade.

I initially picked this LG 32” smart monitor to use on my laptop for the sole purpose of using it for work. However, upon setting up, I think I will mainlu use this as a secondary TV. Not knowing what a smart monitor truly is, I was really excited to know that it has its own webOS and it seamlessly connected with our home wifi. It came with several apps preinstalled such as Netflix, Sling, YouTube, Hulu, Disney+ so if you have account on any of these, you can surely use this smart monitor as a streaming device. As a smart TV, this will be usef as a secondary TV in the guest room. Set up was quick and easy. Upon plugging in and turning it on, the set up displayed on the monitor and the instructions were easy to follow. There was no issue connecting to our home wifi as well. Within a few minutes we were already watching videos on it. The smart monitor has built-in speakers which produce decent sound. I plan on connecting it with our Bose speaker to get better sound. The only let down for me was that this didn’t come equipped with bluetooth, connecting to external speakers would have been a breeze. The display itself provides anti-glare and flicker free. If preferred the monitor also changes the display setting to automatically adapt to videos which is helpful when watching movies. I also like that I can easily cast content from my apple devices to the monitor without the need for Apple TV, this is a win for me because I don’t have Apple TV. Aesthetically, the monitor with its white frame and stand is pleasing to the eyes and worked well with our while walls. Overall, I am please with this smart monitor/TV and would consider this a good buy for its price point.

LG has released their new 32" UHD Smart Monitor in white. What a great concept of a monitor with the ability to also run apps. The box includes the monitor, base, stand (connects base to monitor), 3 screws, remote control, HDMI cable, power cable with transformer (split), and quick user guide/paperwork. The monitor comes with a manufacturer's 1-year warranty. PROS: ----------- * Very sleek, clean, and white look. Good lines, and I love the new normal - frameless screens. * Cord management uses a very simple hole in the rear base of the monitor * The monitor is able to be mounted with the 100mmx100mm configuration * Has the ability to add an a webcam that simply snaps on with magnets; however, it is not included * The picture is absolutely awesome (4K) with good lines and vivid colors. There are no complaints here. * The ability to use as a monitor and a smart TV is a great concept for 2 types of use. You can also open PC apps using the PC interface * The screen has a very good no-glare screen and can be viewed at hard angles pretty well. * Has the ability to connect to a PC via HDMI or USB-C (which also allows for optional webcam usage) * WebOS Smart functions allow for nearly every app I can think of except for one - DTV Stream (see below in the CON section). MAJOR APPS SUPPORTED IN THE LG STORE: ------------------------------------------------- Netflix (quick button on remote) Prime Video (quick button on remote) Disney+ (quick button on remote) LG Channels (quick button on remote) Accuweather Amazon Music AMC Theaters on Demand Apple Music Apple TV CBS News CBS Sports Discovery GO ET Live Food Network GO Fubo TV Hallmark Movies NOW HBOmax HG TV GO Hulu Newsmax OAN Live Pandora Paramount+ Peacock Peloton Plex PlutoTV QVC/HSN Redbox Showtime Showtime Anytime SiriusXM Sling TV Spotify Starz The CW TikTok TV TLC GO Tubi Twitch UFC Universal+ Vudu Xfinity Stream YouTube YouTube Kids YouTube TV ** There are a lot more apps available (ie. kids, foreign languages, screensavers, digital/analog clocks, movies, games, etc) ** Some apps require the user to create an LG account on the TV before they can be installed. CONS: ----------- * The biggest con for me is LG still not having the DirecTV Stream app available in the WebOS app store. I have a another regular LG smart TV and the same applies there too. For some reason, they and DTV did not (or will not) enable a contract to put the DTV Stream app in the WebOS app store for some of their TVs. This TV is one of them. Instead, I have to insert a device that will load the DTV Stream app into one of the HDMI ports in order to watch LIVE TV. I wish LG/DTV would work that out. * The remote is super lightweight but could be built with a more "solid" feel. It feels so light that I feel like it could break in half if someone sat on it by accident. In addition, the dimple in the middle of the multi-directional buttons (up/down/left/right), in my opinion, would have a much better "feel" if it was concave rather than convex (meaning an indention in the center button rather than a button with height over the directional buttons). * The remote does not have bluetooth (BT) capability. It uses IR (line-of-sight) only. * It uses a basic LG and clunky/slow user interface. Clunky meaning, it's not as responsive as most good TVs I have used. There is definitely a delay in some of the functions in the menu and is a bit annoying during setup. This also comes into play when connecting to wifi and entering passwords for apps. * The monitor does not move up/down or angle left/right or rotate. The only motion it can perform is rocking forwards and backwards (see pic for min and max angles from the side). * I wish there was a 3.5mm audio jack on the back which would allow for some desktop hardwire speaker systems to connect. * A Philips head screwdriver is needed to put the base together and attach to the monitor. This is a huge inconvenience especially given that so many TVs and monitors can be put together without the use of added tools. In addition, you have to screw the short stand on FIRST, THEN attach the base to the stand unless you have a stubby L-screwdriver (see pic). There is no real clearance for a regular screwdriver to take those first 2 screws out unless the base is detached first. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * Keep in mind that this is not a TV. It does not have eARC for soundbar playback; however, it does have BT which can be used to connect to audio devices. * I do not use, but the monitor has the ability to use Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit with no Apple TV needed. * The remote provided does its job; however, if you want to use the LG Magic Remote, this monitor is compatible with it (with mouse functionality on-screen). * With very "basic" speakers, you'll want to make sure you have a good audio option. As with most TVs and monitors like this, the sound is not very good for watching movies with rich audio. * The power plug angles DOWN. If you have 2 angled plugs to go into your wall outlet, you may need a power strip to use both. CONCLUSION: ===================== Though only 3-stars provided, I would still recommend this product, but it does still need some work with the clunky OS, cheap-feeling remote, lack of wired audio output, and the need for a screwdriver to put together. What makes this a quality product is the picture and the ability to have apps on the monitor. This product has a lot of potential if the bugs can get cleaned up.
