A:AnswerMy Ring is mounted 90 degrees to the front door, about 36" out and 36" off the ground. It still sees the door and entire front porch, and also my driveway. Its detection range is sufficient to trigger when the trash pickup occurs in the street.
A:AnswerYou need to re-read the instructions for installing the Ring. It came with a small diode device that you need to use if your door bell isn't compatable with the ring as it comes in the box. You'll have to use that diode.
A:AnswerHi davej, are you wanting to keep the doorbell button, or wanting to use the existing chime?
I installed my Ring doorbell as a replacement for a traditional doorbell button with an indoor mechanical chime. I was able to successfully swap out the button and still use my in existing door chime.
A:AnswerYes, that's exactly how I hooked mine up. Saves time with not having to charge the battery since it's wired and it still rings my doorbell on the inside.
A:AnswerIf you have an existing wired doorbell then you don't have to charge it. If you don't then you'll have to charge it every 6 to 12 months. It all depends on the amount of motion at your front door.
