Solid Performance Laptop for Gaming & 3D De

The Lenovo Legion 5 is a strong starter laptop for anyone getting into gaming, graphic design, or even heavier creative work like 3D modeling and rendering. Performance-wise, it definitely delivers. I’ve seen noticeable improvements in render speeds compared to my previous machine, and the processor handles demanding tasks pretty smoothly. That said, battery life is probably the biggest downside. If you’re planning to work unplugged for long stretches, this may not be the best choice. During intensive 3D modeling and rendering sessions, I average around 45 minutes on battery, which is typical for performance laptops but still something to keep in mind. The cooling system works well, but the fans can get pretty loud under heavy workloads. The RGB lighting is a nice aesthetic touch, especially for gaming setups, though it does contribute to additional battery drain. Overall, if performance matters more than portability or battery life, the Legion 5 is a solid choice. It’s powerful, reliable for creative work and gaming, and a great option as long as the shorter battery life and louder fans aren’t deal breakers.

    Strong Performance and Premium Feel

I’ve been using the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 for a while now, and it honestly exceeded my expectations. The performance is extremely solid — everything feels fast and smooth. Games run great on high settings, and even when I’m multitasking with multiple programs open, the system stays responsive. The screen is one of my favorite parts. The resolution and refresh rate make a big difference, especially in fast-paced games. Colors look vibrant, and the image is sharp whether I’m gaming, watching videos, or working. Build quality feels premium and sturdy. It doesn’t feel fragile, and the keyboard is comfortable for long sessions. The cooling system does a good job — yes, the fans get louder under heavy load, but temperatures stay stable and performance doesn’t drop. Battery life is reasonable for a gaming laptop. It’s clearly designed more for power than ultra-long unplugged use, but for everyday tasks it lasts well enough. Overall, the Legion Pro 5 feels like a powerful and reliable machine that balances performance and quality. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a strong gaming and productivity laptop.

Amazing Performance. Battery life is a deterrent

I’ve had the laptop about 2 weeks now. The performance is top notch. 9.5/10 I minused a .5 because compared to my Asus Vivobook 14 pro, it experiences a lag after booting up when it’s time to press enter and sign in, lagging a second before you can type the password. That’s nothing significant at all but in comparison to my asus it’s just something I myself can mark down. I use the laptop for my architecture classes and this laptop was a great choice to run revit and autocad. The laptop’s design is beautiful. I love the design. It gets hot closer to the top near the screen in performance mode but the fan does a good job cooling My 2 issues with the laptop that are a deterrent are the battery life and power LED (the light around the power button that can change colors depending on the laptop performance mode) For a laptop this amazing, the battery life kills the product. Even on light work the battery is terrible. 3/10 The Power LED is a major distraction and cannot be dimmed nor turned off, especially when it’s red. It’s also hard on the eyes. I wish there was a way they would make it more discreet or able to be manipulated as it serves a significant purpose. I would recommend this laptop but you must be willing to put up with these 2 major drawbacks and create your own solutions

Upgrading from my HP Envy 2-1 that I had for 4 years to this laptop has been great investment. The display quality, features, speed, and rgb keyboard all in one. Battery is not the greatest in my opinion, however it’s going to be a home laptop so not to concern about it. Definitely a laptop to look into especially if your into gaming as well.

I recently picked up this 2025 Legion Pro 5 from Best Buy, and I am blown away by the value Lenovo is offering this year. If you are looking for a gaming laptop that balances top-tier build quality with high-end visuals, this is it. Display: The 2.5K OLED screen is the absolute star of the show. Coming from a standard IPS panel, the "true blacks" and vibrant colors make a massive difference in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3. The 165Hz refresh rate keeps everything buttery smooth, and at 500 nits, it’s plenty bright even for daytime use. Performance: Don’t let the "5060" tag fool you—the new RTX 50-series architecture paired with the Ryzen 7 8745HX is a beast. With 32GB of RAM already included, I haven’t run into a single bottleneck. It handles AAA titles on High/Ultra settings with ease, and the 1TB SSD gives me enough room for my core library right out of the box. Thermals & Build: Lenovo’s Coldfront Hyper cooling system is legit. Even during long gaming sessions, the fans stay surprisingly quiet in "Balanced" mode, and the keyboard stays cool to the touch. Speaking of the keyboard, the TrueStrike keys feel great for both typing and gaming. Pros: • Stunning 2.5K OLED display (best in its class). • Comes with 32GB RAM – no need for immediate upgrades. • Excellent cooling and thermal management. • Sleek, professional "Eclipse Black" look that doesn't scream "gamer" too loudly. Cons: • Battery life is typical for a gaming laptop (get used to the charger for heavy tasks). • The black finish picks up fingerprints easily, so keep a microfiber cloth handy!

This has by far been the best purchase I've made. Everything is fast and responsive. My favorite thing is that the laptop remains to be cool and not have the fans be really loud while it's set on Quite mode and that's all you really need and is what I've had it set to for all the games that I've tested. But, if you happen to need a little power boost you can change to either Balanced or Performance mode. The screen is really pretty and the resolution on games looks really nice. I was a little worried about potential damage for delivery, however with how it's shipped and packaged it's snuggly secure so any accidental damage shouldn't be too much of a worry. Overall, I would recommend this! I did purchase this during the winter sale, so the current price may not be worth it for some people, but for what I paid for, it absolutely was.

Got this on a Christmas deal. I upgraded from HP Omen 15 from four years ago. Which is still running great. I got this computer because it had Ryzen 7 and GTX 5060. Huge upgrade from the 2060. The screen is so beautiful. I have never had an OLED and this thing is truly amazing. The viewing angles, the pitch black blacks of the screen, and the vivid colors are stunning. I was nervous at first because of screen burn in. But that isn’t an issue unless you leave your computer on, preventing the screen from going off for 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The computer is fast and the 32gb of memory is plenty. I am putting a second SSD of 4tb in for games. The LED keyboard is nice. My only complaint about this laptop is that they should not have put on the numer keypad section and made the QWERTY keys larger. But that is easily bypasses with a second keyboard. I did not buy this laptop for battery life. If I wanted a laptop that I could just surf the web, write emails and documents on the go, I would have bought a MacBook Air. People complaining about the battery life are ridiculous. If you seriously thought you would get 5-8 hours screen on time from a 16” OLED screen, I want what you are smoking. The screen is the biggest battery draw until you engage the dedicated graphics card. This laptop utilizes an integrated Radeon 610M for regular desktop use. I use this at home for gaming and daily work and have a travel laptop (MacBook Air lol) to keep in the loop. I can step away from gaming for a few days without spazzing out that I have to game. And why would you want to lug around a 5+ pound laptop when you travel anyway? Anyway, this is a great laptop and worth the money on sale. Got it for $1199. At regular price, get a desktop with better spec graphics card and an OLED monitor. No complaints, would recommend for anyone who games and wants a great laptop for home and even on the go if you just have the laptop in the hotel for gaming.

Pros: - Laptop is smooth and performs well - Great amount of RAM - It can run games with no issues and even a good laptop for what I need in school such as coding, VMs, networking tools, etc. - The screen is beautiful, first OLED screen for a laptop and it's very nice, just be careful to not leave it static for screen burn Cons: - The battery life SUCKS. I recommend you bring a charger with you because if you don't the laptop will definitely die on you. In 25 minutes my battery dropped from 100% to 80% while half idle

I needed something to travel with that could play my games without any issues and this has exceeded expectations. I see a lot about battery life issues, I tend to keep my charger with me so it’s not an issue. The image is beautiful. Computer is fast and powerful. All around a great buy for the money.

Overall good gaming laptop if bought at the right price point. I wouldn’t pay over 1300 for this and that’s the high end. It’s not crazy heavy for a gaming laptop although, Lenovo does have alternative chassis that are noticeably lighter. I would highly recommend undervolting the CPU and purchasing a llano laptop cooler. Also would look into extending either the Lenovo warranty or bestbuy GSP. Lenovo is very reputable however all gaming laptops have a chance to brick/or go wrong in many ways. Well worth on a device over 1000. Also the battery life is beyond atrocious on this, even for a gaming laptop. But to be honest if your in that market i wouldn’t bank on finding ‘good’ battery life anywhere; except for in a Mac. The Display on this thing is gorgeous, and the 5060 is surprisingly powerful. Easily gets 100+ fps on most AAA titles even at the 2.5k resolution.

I’ve been using the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16” 2.5K OLED (Ryzen 7 8745HX, 32GB RAM, RTX 5060, 1TB SSD) for both AI development and gaming, and it has been awesome so far. The performance is fast and smooth, training/running models, coding, and multitasking feels effortless thanks to the 32GB RAM and powerful Ryzen CPU. The RTX 5060 GPU handles GPU workloads really well and gaming performance is great too.

I am very happy with this laptop. It has handled every game that I have tried on it. It does get a little hot, but that was to be expected. It also drains the battery pretty fast, but you are going to want to plug it in when you are gaming anyway, so that too, was expected. It performs exactly as I expected and I would recommend.
