    Very Slow

This may have been one of the slowing thumb drives I have ever used. I own a MacBook Air 13.6" Laptop - M2 so the USB-C and small form factor was desirable. But in practice, it doesn't fit my daily data transfer needs. Could it be the processor on my MacBook Air, maybe but I have no issue using the SanDisk Extreme Portable 1TB External USB. If speed isn't a must then the small size and the flipping from type A to type C is what you need then this is still my work for you.

Does not copy files over 4 gig - JUNK

The file type used on this drive will not allow you to copy files larger than 4 gig. What genius thought that would be a good idea in a 500 gig drive? I had to contact support multiple times before they told be the drive needed to be reformatted to be used.

Thanks for your feedback. Our drives come preformatted in exFAT, which supports large file transfers. If you encountered a 4GB limit, the drive may have been reformatted in FAT32 at some point. Please contact our support team at: https://support-en.sandisk.com/app/askweb, and we'll help check the format and get this resolved. SanDiskConnections

What's to say except that this SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 512GB does what you expect - expeditiously. The basic review follows BUT NOTE THE LATTER PART OF THE NAME OF THIS DRIVE :: USB-A/USB-C Flash Drive. You can plug into a C port, drive slot, whatever you call it, and read or write data AND THEN flip it around and plug it into an A slot to write or read the same data. PERFECT to be a GO drive. I have formatted it ExFat to move files from Windows into Mac OS Journaled and vice versa. I am about to move all the data off one Mac Studio onto an upgrade Mac so it is now formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to receive data from APFS. I moved 66GB from Mac MAX 2 Studio in 10, 11 minutes which was ok. I say that because I moved about 33 GB of pics from Mac APFS to ExFat and it took all night - also on a different, slower drive. It also makes sense that this GO drive is 512GB because it is for transition purposes. S maller may be cheaper but more trips. I have used San Disk before they were associated with WD (I am a WD fan) and I can sincerely say that I continue to be pleased with SanDisk. An old time name that goes waaayy way back tried this 'GO' concept before but they failed terribly. VERY WELL DONE SANDISK.

This flash drive is tiny, but it's fast and very user friendly with two types of USB connectors. While it doesn't take up much room, that is also the one downside. You need to make sure you attach a keyring or something to it or the risk of losing it or overlooking it is fairly high.

    Fast, Reliable Dual‑Interface Drive

The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 512GB delivers exactly what it promises: high‑capacity, high‑speed storage in a compact, dual‑connector design. The 512GB capacity provides plenty of room for large files, whether you're storing photos, videos, VM images, or OS builds. The dual‑purpose swivel housing is practical and well‑engineered. Both the USB‑C and USB‑A connectors stay protected when not in use, and the integrated key‑ring hole makes it easy to carry without worrying about damage. Performance is where this drive stands out. With read speeds up to 400MB/s over USB 3.1 Gen 1, transfers are consistently fast and sustained, not just short burst speeds. It’s also fully backward‑compatible with USB 3.0 and 2.0, which is helpful when moving between older systems. I used this drive for a persistent live Kali Linux installation, and the experience has been excellent. Boot times are quick, applications load smoothly, and overall responsiveness feels close to running the OS from an internal SSD. For a compact flash drive, that level of stability and speed is impressive. The SanDisk Memory Zone app adds optional automatic backup for photos, videos, documents, and contacts (installation required), and the drive works with iPhone 15/Pro through the Apple Files app. Just note that it doesn’t support direct video recording from the iPhone. Overall, this is a fast, reliable, and versatile USB‑C/USB‑A drive that handles both everyday storage and more technical workloads without issue.

I was able to download all my images with pretty quick speed. It did heat up and slow down after a while, not being able to download or show images for a bit. But after taking it out and waiting a few seconds before putting it back in again helped fixed those issues.

SanDisk - Ultra Dual Drive Go 512GB USB Type-A/USB Type-C Flash Drive - Black. Good speed, very convenient in physical size and dual (USB and Type-C) connectivity. It would be solid if it’s made out of metal - just like the silver version.
