I received the new Google Fitbit Air Classic Special Edition Stephen Curry Rye and WOW… this thing is FIRE! First off, it’s EXTREMELY lightweight and comfortable. Honestly, after putting it on, I barely even noticed I was wearing it. The design details on this special edition are what really make it stand out though. The square piece with Stephen Curry’s name and the #LockIn slogan feels like a soft rubber material, while the outside of the band feels like a premium woven nylon texture. The inside of the band is where the creativity really shows.. it has orange rubber lines that instantly reminded me of a basketball which perfectly matches Curry’s sport and branding. One of the dopest hidden details is the number “30” worked into the orange lines on the inside of the band. That subtle touch makes the whole design feel thoughtful instead of just another celebrity collaboration. The materials also feel premium and durable. Google says the band is made from: * recycled polyester * nylon * elastane yarn * with a stainless steel buckle The orange accents, woven texture, #LockIn branding, and lightweight tracker all come together perfectly. As someone who already respected Stephen Curry for his work ethic, character, and faith, this special edition honestly feels inspiring and motivational every time I look at it. Google really snapped with this one.

So far so good. I bought this fitbit to replace my samsung watch on days i want to wear mechanical watches. Readings are good, band is comfortable, i just feel the app could use sone optimization.

Works well, tracks my sleep and walking steps and heart rate very nicely. the Google Health app works in my iPhone and is mostly good tho it has some glitches/quirky behavior when trying to log meals or scan barcodes

Battery life and comfort are amazing. Nice throwback to the original days of the Fitbit! Couldn't ask for more.

I’m not an athlete — just a regular dad with a regular dad bod trying to take better care of myself while juggling the everyday chaos most dads know well. For two years I was a loyal Whoop user, and it really is a great platform, especially if you’re training seriously. But the subscription kept getting pricier, and for someone like me, it started feeling like more than I needed. Since I’m already paying for Gemini Pro (basically the same price as Whoop’s subscription), I figured I’d give Fitbit a chance, especially because Health Premium comes included. It may not offer the same depth of data that Whoop does, but honestly, it gives me everything I actually need. The AI chat feels surprisingly personal, and I keep discovering new features. I’m sure it’ll keep improving over time, and for my lifestyle, it’s been a great fit. And also the accesories are not as expensive

The product itself is good, especially with the strap included. I absolutely loved it, but Google really needs to work on the app experience, especially for iOS, if it wants to compete with Whoop or other screenless fitness devices.

I bought this item to replace my Apple Watch, all while tracking the stuff I care about. I didn't want another screen on a device or for something on my wrist to be too obvious, buzzing and giving notifications. Now, when I put my phone down, I am distraction-free, but I'm still able to track some vitals. This checks all my boxes, and now I can do some sleep tracking without discomfort.

This Fitbit Air has been a happy surprise for me. I went in thinking it might enjoy better sleep tracking (I don’t enjoy sleeping with a bulky smart watch on) and came out throughly impressed and wearing it all the time… alongside my smart watch, somehow. __ Design __ I started wearing on my opposite wrist, but quickly felt that going tandem on one just felt more right. This being screen-less makes it work. It’s smaller, lighter and more narrow than my watch, allowing it to disappear a bit more without looking overlook hokey… more or less looking like simple bracelet. While I don’t care the Steph Curry tie-in (no jab at him, I just don’t care) the Rye color looks nice, with a bit of an orange accent and a brownish tone that blends in well on the arm. The end of the tab has his name, which I worried about a bit, but when worn appropriately, it wraps out of view from my perspective. As an added plus, the metal loop on this one is a titanium-like finish that matches my watch perfectly. I also find that wearing it solo for workouts feels more freeing than a smart watch. Watches are wider and can interfere a bit with certain exercises when bending your wrists. The Air feels barely there, being lightweight, small, and with a narrow band. The woven band does absorb some sweat, unlike my silicone watch bands, but I’ve enjoyed this Fitbit enough that I may spring for a workout band as well. It’s also more easily stainable, so I had to take it off for dirty activities like gardening. __ Performance __ As I wore the Fitbit, I quickly realized how much I enjoy having 24-hr insights. For one, it captures calories burned during sleep - something I hadn’t been internalizing previously. And it puts that calorie metric front and center in the Google Health app. I didn’t realize how much I was missing. When you’re trying to lose weight, little more helps you lose than understanding calorie intake and burn rate. The body often adapts to exercise, so calories are seemingly the most important. Yet, my smart watch has never focused on this. Step count is also nice to return to, as it feels like a good measure of general movement during the day and over time. Unlike my smartwatch, it also lasts a very long time on a single charge. In my testing, it lasted a full 7 days straight and still had 20% battery remaining when it suggested that I take it off for a charge. Charging only took 30 mins and it informed me (via push notification on my phone) that it was ready to put back on. It really makes constant sleep tracking convenient as I don’t have to worry about the battery life. __ The Unexpectedly Useful AI Coach __ At time of review, this came with a 3 month trial of the Gemini-powered AI health coach as part of a premium subscription. This paid subscription mostly just adds this specialized coach to guide you toward whatever your goal may be. I nearly skipped it as it seemed like it would just be more AI nonsense, but I figured it might be worth checking out if free. Surprisingly, it beat my expectations and is proving to be a great way to take action on all of this health and fitness data I’m capturing. While some responses seemed like boiler-plate encouragement, it quickly learned that I use both a Peloton and Tonal and used that knowledge to suggest specific workouts based on the level of activity I needed at the given time. It provided more nuanced suggestions that were more actionable. Often chiming in twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening through push notifications, it’s called attention to some of the best times to take advantage of the day, often calling out when the weather will most agreeable for a walk, etc. - almost like a personalized outlook for the day. When it came to fitness goals, it was smart enough to notice that I could use a break after a longer lifting session - suggesting that I take a day to rest as I was already on track to meet my weekly goals, for instance. It’s fairly good at being referential (at times too much, just as other chat bots love to ‘name’-drop bits of inform from your past comments) but I was more surprised by some of the details it would bring up. For instance, it gave some insight into how achieving more deep sleep was likely impacting recovery of hormone levels, and encouraging me to sleep in a bit a following day after getting wiped out. You can also engage more with the bot ask it gets to know you, but I appreciate that it doesn’t nag beyond the twice daily suggestions. It feels very accurate and I’ve loved my sleep insights. More-so than my smartwatch, Fitbit has been better at identifying and logging activity sessions. It’s not all perfect, though… early on, it got confused by an auto-identified activity session (gardening) and assumed it was one of my Tonal workouts. By responding back, I clarified that it wasn’t one of my planned weightlifting sessions, but it never recovered despite saying that it would correct it. Later in the week it continued to count this activity as me successfully completing my weightlifting goal early, when I hadn’t. __ Overall __ At the end of the day, I’m thoroughly happy with this affordable, lightweight Fitbit. Its complete focus on health tracking beats several of my smartwatch’s features and integrates well on iOS, learning and sharing with other health inputs. The band looks great and lacking a screen is a benefit, not a hindrance, as I still want to wear a watch. The AI Coach (premium feature) is a surprisingly great addition, giving useful insights and suggestions without nagging. If your goal is make meaningful progress toward your goals, it feels crucial, allowing you actually do something with all of this health data you collect. Highly recommended!

Many choose to wear a smart watch which can also show phone notifications and track basic health stats like steps, activity, heart rate or blood oxygen levels. For the average person who isn’t a fitness enthusiast, this is usually enough although most smart watches typically need a daily charge. For those who aren’t necessarily professional athletes but still want to dig a bit deeper into their stats or want longer battery life, a dedicated fitness tracker is a likely upgrade or companion to a smart watch. I am by no means a professional athlete. In fact, I’m just a regular guy (with a gadget fetish) who likes to track my stats in the hopes that they reveal actionable trends to make my life just a bit better. I already wear an Apple Watch on my non-dominant wrist (left) and that gave me the basics. I then added a smart ring on my right hand to fill in some health and data gaps; especially while sleeping since the watch is on the charger every night but I wear the ring 24/7 (minus a quick charge every 4-5 days). At first glance, the Fitbit Air just seems like a wrist-worn version of the ring in that it also has no screen, lasts longer on a charge than a watch and seems to provide a bit more fitness-related information than a typical smart watch. The primary differences, however; seem to be in the app that crunches the data and provides insights. That and you can more easily change up the look of the Fitbit than you can a smart ring. Overall, the Fitbit Air and smart rings are very similar in the stats they gather and their minimal aesthetic by not having any displays or on-unit feedback. While the smart ring is more health and wellness-focused in general, the Fitbit Air is a tad more fitness-focused. The subtle difference is that fitness generally means more activity like running, biking, etc. Both measure similar stats, are waterproof and last for nearly a week on a charge but tend to focus on different stuff. The Fitbit Air is incredibly light and very small. The sensing unit can be removed from the band for cleaning, charging or easily swapped to another band for fashion changes. To charge the sensing unit, you do have to take the band off which means gaps in your data, but you don’t need to remove the sensor from the band. The charger is magnetic but not inductive in that it has two spring-loaded pins that match metal pads on the sensor. Charging is really quick - a 5 minute boost will give you about a day’s worth of sensing and about 90 minutes on the charger will get it from 0 to a full week’s life. The band that came with mine is the Stephen Curry woven one. It looks sporty and fashionable and is soft to the touch with a rubbery inside to keep it from sliding around your wrist. Just be aware that this band wicks up the sweat and takes a while to dry after washing unless you towel it off. So expect either having to wear a moist band while it air dries, or have gaps in your data after cleaning the band post-workout until it air dries before you put it back on. Like a ring, the intent of the Fitbit Air is to track and store your stats silently in the background and then sync them to an app on your phone. The new Google Heath app then takes that recorded data and attempts to make sense of if all so you can make informed decisions. There is also an AI-based “coach” if you’re in the paid (or free trial) Premium subscription. All of your data is stored and visible in the app even without the paid subscription, but you’ll have to spot the trends and crunch the numbers yourself. I found the app to be mostly OK but a bit clumsy and cluttered. All of the data is there but there’s a ton of text from the AI Coach that you’ll need to read or scroll through. The Coach, like most other AI’s, can hallucinate and make inferences where there are no correlations or with insufficient data. For example, I woke up last night to use the bathroom and my Google Health Coach scolded me for getting too little sleep by waking up so early even though I went back to sleep right after. Then, later in the day more data synced over and the Coach’s advice was updated to be a tad more reasonable. I appreciate that the Google Health app reads data from my Apple Health app so it can get a fuller picture of all the data that other wearables in my ecosystem have gathered, but as of the time of this review, nothing gathered by this tracker is added to that centralized Apple Heath record. Perhaps with Android this is a non-issue, but as an Apple user, I really want the Fitbit Air’s data to contribute to my overall health picture that also includes the info gathered from my watch, smart bed, etc… Unlike some other trackers, all of the data gathered is available in the app without having to sign up for yet another subscription. After the trial is over, you have to start paying if you value the AI-enhanced coaching. I’m not sure I will after this trial, but we’ll see…. Activity tracking is another thing I use my trackers for. The watch does a pretty good job of sensing and offering enhanced tracking for activities like walking, riding my bike or lifting weights. The ring is OK and generally just adds more color for a more nuanced picture of the watch’s activities. The Fitbit didn’t really sense these activities as well as the other trackers. My heart rate data was there, but not everything was automatically tagged as the proper “workout” event. I did two back-to-back 20-minute spin classes that the watch and the ring identified properly, but the Fitbit just called it a single 45-minute ride. Without any on-device feedback, you kinda have to wait until you’re done and the data is synced to make edits and adjustments in the app based on memory. Hopefully these will improve with future updates to the sensor unit and the app. Battery life has been great so far. I only take off the band when showering to keep from getting the band unnecessarily moist. Otherwise it’s been on my wrist all day every day gathering data. So far, it’s been 4 days and the band still has 56% battery left. As mentioned above, the main point of these trackers is two-fold. Firstly the tracker itself must be comfortable to wear as long as you want, have a battery that is convenient to charge and confidently gather all pertinent data accurately. Secondly, the app and or subscription must make sense of all of that data by showing valid trends and presenting actionable suggestions. This Fitbit Air definitely is comfortable to wear, has a long-life battery that charges quickly, and gathers a ton of stats. The app is at best a work-in-progress. The AI Coach which is only available by subscription (after the free trial) is helpful but as with all AI, anything it says should be verified and double-checked. I’m hopeful that the app will improve, including the ability to add to Apple Health. I’m also hopeful that the updates to the app and/or AI Coach will be able to retroactively make better sense of all the data it already collected. The typical person doesn’t need to wear 3 fitness trackers; a smart watch, a smart ring and fitness band like the Fitbit Air. If you’re already wearing a smart watch but want at bit more heath and fitness data and insight, a ring or dedicated band can supplement that info. This Fitbit Air is far less expensive than a smart ring and doesn’t require an expensive subscription (unless you want the AI Coach). However, the free app still needs some improvements to be truly helpful. If a wrist band style tracker meets your needs, you can’t go wrong with the Fitbit Air, but you might need to wait a bit for app updates before it becomes truly useful.

I've been firmly in the Apple ecosystem since the OG iPhone so I normally stick with Apple products that are going to connect to my phone and work constantly for me. I thought I'd give this Fitbit Air a shot since it feels like it fixed one of the bit issues I've had with the Apple Watch. It's easy to forget about. Setup is pretty easy. Download the Google Health app and login. The app takes you through the steps to connect to the Fitbit and update it's fairly seemless. The initial update took a bit of time but once it was done, the whole thing gets out of your way. Like completely. Too much, almost. After setup was complete, I was left with a Google Health dashboard and that was it. I had no extra guidance for what my Fitbit Air really did for me or how it would work or how to check on things. It was just there in the top right of the dashboard showing me how much battery life was remaining. Tapping on it showed me all of my devices and selecting the Fitbit offered a handful of misc. settings I could configure. The one that stuck out the most to me was "Share heart rate". This one would allow you to share your heart rate data with gym equipment and other apps that supported it. After some time, I edited the top Today widget space to include my heart rate which finally gave me a live view of my heart rate. That's about all you get that's live. It makes sense for a smaller device without a screen to not really offer up much in the way of live data. I just left the health app and went about my day. My biggest curiosity was how well it would track my sleep and if I would need to manually do something for it to work properly since my sleep schedule bounces around a lot (some nights I go to sleep at 7am and some nights I'm asleep by 1am). To my surprise, after waking up the first night, my sleep was tracked and it gave me a nice breakdown of each sleep cycle and a rating for how "well" I slept. Another surprise was when I took a nap in the middle of the day and the Fitbit recognized it and recorded that as well. The biggest reason for wanting to use this Fitbit is just how much it disappears from my mind through most of the day. I barely remember I'm wearing it because it's very light and pretty subdued on my wrist. I do sometimes look at it like a watch before remembering there's no screen, but aside from that, I don't notice it. The one place I find the most uncomfortable to wear my Apple Watch is in bed and that's the thing I would love to track the most. So this Fitbit Air is perfect for sleep tracking for me. Even though the Fitbit isn't doing live data transfers or anything, it does some fun notifications that can keep you motivated. After it detects that you've been active for a period of time, it notifies you and if it didn't detect the exact activity, it let's you classify it to help them detect it in the future. I was just cruising around with my kids on an electric scooter at the time and that was one of the options. Battery life is also pretty good. I noticed about a 10% drain per day give or take so a full charge should last you a week or longer depending on usage. If I had to come up with a down side, it would be related to the battery life and how infrequently it needs to be charged. If I have to charge something every night, it becomes a habit pretty quickly. But if I need to charge something every week or so, I don't think about it until it's pretty much dead. Remembering to charge it sometime during the week is going to be the biggest challenge for me. All-in-all, I really like this little Fitbit. It looks nice. I can change the band if I really want to. I barely notice it most of the day. And most importantly, it doesn't feel uncomfortable when I'm sleeping with it on so I can properly track my sleep every night. If you're looking for a fitness tracker that gets out of your way and just exists and doesn't need you to think about it very much, this one is definitely something to consider.

This new Google Fitbit Air special edition is a good health tracker that helps you keep your health records and fitness levels in sync with your daily routine while keeping you updated on all the workouts and activities I do. Setting up the Fitbit Air with the Google Health app was a breeze—just charge it and pair it with the new Google Health app. It works with both Android and iOS devices, which is great since I have an iPhone. It has built-in storage of 0.016 gigabytes and measures steps taken, calories burned, distance traveled, resting heart rate, target heart rate, respiration rate, blood oxygen, exercise duration, hours slept, sleep stage duration, water resistance, and a woven wristband that’s comfortable and easy to swap out. The battery lasts all day, and it charges quickly. There’s no display, which is a plus for avoiding distractions, and no voice activation. However, I think it would have been even better if it included GPS, just like other health gadgets, in case you lose the Fitbit. The new Google Health app is great with their built in AI and this Fitbit includes 3 months free Google Health Premium, however the app kept freezing on my phone when I tried to interact with it, probably needs a software update, other than that is a great app to keep tracking your health.

Google’s Fitbit Air is a very interesting smart wearable device. Looking at the design, it’s much different from most options on the market today. Having a minimalistic design with no screen took me getting used of a first, but I think that’s its best feature. I’ve been using the Fitbit Air for several days now and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I have the special edition Stephen Curry band color option. Only concerns I have is when the band gets wet or dirty. How will it hold up? Sine I’ve been using the Fitbit Air, I sometimes forget I have it on my wrist since the band is lightweight. It’s not overly as large as other watches and fitness trackers. I think this may be the Fitbit’s main selling point. I am able to wear the band comfortably all day without any discomfort. Battery Life Battery Life has been exceptional. I charge the battery every 3rd or 4th day just to be consistent. No issues with battery life as the battery last for more than a couple of days normally. Charging the device from the USB-C charging dock is simple. I normally charge the device while showering, so I pretty much never run out of battery. Tracking The Fitbit Air comes with an optical heart sensor, infrared sensors for SpO2 monitoring, and a temperature sensor. There also a vibration motor for alarms that can be setup in the app. I wear a smartwatch and the data from both devices are pretty similar. However, the Fitbit is ¼ of the price I paid for my smartwatch. This definitely add to the overall value of the device. Google Health App The real star of the device is the Google Health app. First of all, you will need to be comfortable with Google potentially having access to your health information. You have the ability to manage the information you share by adjusting the feature privacy control options. I’m pretty comfortable with allowing access to my health information so I was able to enable access to my other wearable devices that reflects in Google health connect. The Premium version of Google Health allows you to have access to a 24/7 AI coach that allows personal interaction based on your own health data. I receive a daily message every morning on my progress. The AI health coach also assists with workout plans that are tailored to your feedback and direction. The premium version also allows access to workout videos to help with all the fitness goals you may have. I uploaded my most recent lab results in the Google Health app, and the AI coach gave me some actionable insights to improve in areas. Overall thoughts I’m really happy with the design and app interaction with Google’s new Fitbit Air. There are different band choices and different band color options to make the device stand out. I did not have any previous Fitbit devices, so I don’t have info on Fibit’s previous app versus Google Health. The Google Health app premium version provides useful insights and data to help reach my fitness goals. Is Google Health premium worth the cost long-term in addition to the upfront cost of the Fitbit Air? Gemini is powering the AI Health coach and the info is insightful and useful. We’ll see long-term if the investment pays off with me making my health more of a priority in 2026.

The Fitbit air Stephen Curry edition is the new lightweight health and fitness tracker from Google. The Stephen Curry edition is a stylish orange accented tan fabric band that is coated to make it water resistant. There are several other band colors available in fabric or silicon. The actual Fitbit module is easy to remove and pop into the new band. You get 24/7 heart rate tracking, AFib alerts, SpO2, heart rate variability, sleep stages and duration, and automatic activity detection. I confirmed the Battery life wearing it a week before it needed a charge, a five-minute fast charge gives you a day of use. I wore the band all day shower, pool and ocean swimming and during the night sleeping. The band is so comfortable you barely know it is there. The raised ridges on the inside of the band improve airflow and speed drying. You use the Google health app to get the data. It is great, full of information. The Google Fitbit air comes with a 3 month premium version subscription after that you can continue with a paid subscription or just use the basic version. The premium version has Gemini-powered AI Health Coach, adaptive fitness plans, and deeper sleep insights. You can also link to medical records. If you are looking for a small lightweight sports/ health tracker this may be the one for you, like it was for me!

I have an obsession with tracking my sleep. I currently use a smart watch, smart ring and now have my Fitbit Air. Clearly, there is no screen to see your data. You must access the Google Health app for that. I am not thrilled with the layout and style of the app (screenshots attached). Again, I have used several different health trackers, and most apps are more detailed. This seems very basic. I do find that the information is comparable to the other devices, so it is accurate in what information it is gathering. It is comfortable to wear. I did find that the Velcro strap came undone overnight a few times (I am a restless sleeper). That did impact the sleep tracking as the unit was not next to my skin. It says it is water resistant. I have washed my hands with no problem. I have not tried to shower with it mainly because the strap material would stay wet and be uncomfortable. I love the Stephen Curry model I selected. He is a favorite player and the band is stylish and I like the logo. Overall this is a nice tracker for the price. It can be useful on days you want to wear a "non" smart watch but still want to keep track of your health. The app does need work however.

I’ve had a lot of fitness trackers over the years. I even backed the original crowdfunded Fitbit, so getting to test the Google Fitbit Air had me genuinely excited. I wanted to see where Google was taking the Fitbit brand and how Gemini would fit into a fitness tracker. After a full week of wearing it every day, I think they’ve finally made a fitness tracker that actually feels smart. On its own, the Air is basically a very slim Fitbit. Once Gemini steps in, the whole thing changes. It learns your habits, chats with you like a real person, and gives you insights in plain English instead of the usual bars and graphs that other trackers throw at you. It still tracks the basics like sleep, steps and heart rate, but the difference is how it explains everything. You get all the usual health data, but Gemini breaks it down into something you can actually use. It gives you a simple plan for the day instead of leaving you to decode charts. Gemini is built into the app and part of the premium subscription, which is $9.99 a month. You get three months free with the band. You can ask Gemini almost anything, fitness related or not, though you’ll probably stick to health questions. I’ve asked it how to get deeper sleep, how to exercise without hurting my back, and even told it to stop talking like Gen Z. It handled all of it. If I had a high activity day, the next morning it will tell me to take it easier or remind me to get some sunlight because it will help my circadian rhythm. It’s surprisingly helpful. The Air adjusts to your life, learns your area, your habits and your limitations, and just quietly does its job while being so slim and light that you forget it’s there. I tested the special edition Steph Curry band. It looks great and is very comfortable. The silicone lining keeps it in place without snagging arm hair, and it’s water and sweat proof, so showers and beach days are fine. There’s no screen. You get a small LED charging indicator and a vibration for alarms. The band stays out of the way, tracking everything while Gemini handles the chatting and all the data analysis. If you’re not comfortable sharing data, this probably isn’t the device for you. Gemini is the whole point of the Fitbit Air, and without it, you’re basically wearing a thin step counter. Pros Barely noticeable on the wrist Works on either arm Battery lasts about a week Water and sweat resistant Gemini integration actually changes the experience Cons Privacy concerns will always exist with AI Premium subscription required for the good features Overall I’m a big fan of the Google Fitbit Air because Gemini makes the experience feel personal and human, but if you don’t want to pay the $9.99 monthly subscription, you won’t get much out of it since Gemini is doing most of the work. Gemini genuinely shifts what a fitness tracker can be, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Google builds on this with future updates and next‑gen hardware.

I vaguely remember when the first Fitbit watch came out but I was happy with the one I purchased since it was cheap and used it for tracking my steps daily. Now this new model has caught me off-guard because I have become used to my other wearables that track my breathing, heart rate, sleep apnea and more with apps and insights. Google Fitbit Air set high expectations for me since I thought a company as huge as Google would have excellent technology and a great application to let you track your vitals on an android phone or an IOS device. I installed the Google Health app as instructed and decided to I would have an open mind to see what it could provide for me that other devices might not have. My first surprise was that the band did not have a display but it made it more durable since with a black google logo where the tracker was placed against your skin. It comes with a special shaped charger that works efficiently to charge the Fitbit Air in a reasonable amount of time. It states that it lasts for a week and mine lasted almost that long. I went through the directions to setup and synch the Fitbit with the Google Health application. It did come with a free 3-month trial for special fitness class access, but I decided not to activate it since I am getting over an injury and did not want to get charged a fee if I forgot to cancel the trial in time. I took screenshots of the different screens in the app and will post most of them. It tracks sleep, fitness, health and summary of your vital information. I went ahead and gave the app access to my Apple Health information on my iPhone which gathers data from my smartwatch and smart ring that I wear all the time. I do have to say I wore this tracker more than my watch since I turn it off at bedtime to not interfere with my alarm to wake up for work. The Fitbit Air was positive in the fact that I would wear it all day and night without thinking much about it. I was glad that it seemed to match my vitals for sleep, breathing and movement like my other trackers and phones. This Fitbit Air is good for people who want something that is a good value device and can help track the various health vitals that are important to them. I will wear mine occasionally now that the testing phase is over. I hope that Google is able to tweak the Google Health application to give the most accurate information for movement, sleep, exercising, and heart health.

The new Fitbit air is amazing in what it can do in such a small and lightweight package. It gives you almost all of the capabilities of a smart watch in terms of health tracking yet you don’t have the bulk of a watch. I use a smart watch to track workouts but wanted something that’s less bulky especially when I’m sleeping as I just don’t like a bulky watch on my wrist when I’m sleeping. I also wanted something that I don’t have to worry about messing up my screen when I’m working as the type of work I do can easily damage smart watch screens. This is my first experience with the Google Health app as this is my first Fitbit and I really like all of data and capabilities of the you can track. As of now I’m only using the free service and don’t have a subscription, but may try it to see how the Gemini AI health coach is. The battery life of 7 days has been phenomenal as my smartwatch I have to charge as least every two. The automatic workout detection is nice also especially since there’s no screen. The Fitbit Air is the fitness tracker for the people who want or need a fitness tracker but wants something that’s almost invisible!

Before smartwatches, I used a few Fitbit products. I had the Fitbit Flex and the Charge 2. They were great. They were easy to use and tracked the things I cared about which was mainly my steps. Years later, this product came out, the Fitbit Air, and I was curious about it. The current smart watch I use, I have to charge every single day, and there are times when I cannot track my sleep. I'm hoping this Fitbit Air will have better battery life so I don't have to charge every day. I can track my sleep without having to worry about waking up to a dead battery or not being able to wear it because it's low on battery. Immediately, I noticed this does have better battery life. If I wore it all day, it would at least give me a little over two days, sometimes three days, of good battery life. I could probably even extend it to four days. And I can extend it further because I mainly wear it to track my workouts and my sleep. Since I don't wear it all day, I can't extend the battery life longer than four days. Tracking sleep seems to be fairly similar to how my smartwatch tracks sleep. Neither my smartwatch or this Fitbit air is actually scientific as far as sleep tracking, but I just want to get some idea of how long I have slept for. I used to ride my bike, but lately I've just been playing basketball, and that's the activity that I use to track with the Fitbit Air. Now it's not on the list of workouts, so I end up just picking the general workout option. What's neat, though, is it does have other activities on here that my smartwatch doesn't really track. For instance, cross-country skiing, kayaking, kickboxing, paddle boarding. Tracking activities again is very similar to my smartwatch. My heart rate is tracked very similarly. The only thing I wish I had was a screen so I don't have to bring my phone with me to the basketball court and start my activity before a pick-up game starts. This is obvious. I knew there was no screen. I didn't think I would miss it, but it's just an additional thing I would have to do before a pickup game starts. Then pause or stop the activity once the game is over. This is probably one of those uncommon instances, but I have to mention it. With other activities, I'm sure it'll be fine without a screen. Just start and stop the activity with your phone app. They also have a workout library where you could watch videos like core workout, peleton classes, cardio boxing, and more. The length of the video is vary. There is also a premium subscription for $99 annually. This membership includes personalized plans, sleep summaries and trends, and holistic insights. The biggest thing I was after is the sleep tracking and the heart rate monitor because I have to make sure when I'm doing activities, my heart rate doesn't go too high. And it gives me both. If you're looking for basic tracking, this is a great pick, but if you need more advanced tracking, you may want to look elsewhere.

I've had a few Fitbits over the years and this Google Fitbit Air Special Edition feels like a new chapter. It's a screenless tracker. The whole point is that it sits on your wrist without ever asking for your attention. There's no display, no buttons, no notifications buzzing at random times throughout the day. All the data you need is in your Google Health app. I chose the Stephen Curry Special Edition because of the color combo. The subtle brown/orange styling blends in well with any outfit I'm wearing. - Unboxing/Design/Build/Setup - The packaging is eco-friendly and minimalistic, but also sleek and modern. Underneath the band tray is the proprietary charging cable that snaps on magnetically. There's a folded quick-start card. The pebble pops out of the band easily with a push from your thumb on the underside, which is how you can swap out band styles down the line if you choose. There's an orange accent line on the top and bottom of the band, and a stylish retro brown color that blends in well with my wrist. The design on this band was well thought out. It's very light on your wrist; you won't even notice it's there. The band is an adjustable Velcro that's water resistant. When it gets wet, the band just sheds the water instead of absorbing it. There are stripes on the inside of the band that help it stay in place when there's high intensity exercise. The closure system is a Velcro style hook and loop wrap. You feed the band through a loop, double back, and press down. It's simple, fast, and you can adjust it exactly to the size you want on your wrist. I'll be curious to see if the Velcro hooks pick up any lint or fibers, but so far it's clean through the first week of wear. The build quality feels good and the band material looks like it will hold up well with no visible wear over the first week. Setup was extremely easy on my iPhone. I charged my Fitbit, downloaded the Google Health app, and paired the Google Fitbit Air in the app. - Performance - The Google Fitbit Air lives on the strength of the Google Health app. I'm in the Apple ecosystem and I can say that the app works well. Once you open the app it's organized into four sections: Today, Fitness, Sleep, Health. Step count, calories, distance, sleep summary, and key vitals all live on the front page without needing to drill through menus. Heart rate accuracy was good. I cross-referenced a couple of workouts against my proven fitness watch, and the readings tracked closely on both peak and average, with only minor deviations. There were a few mornings that I felt the reading was too low, but once I adjusted it to be more snug on my wrist, readings were better. I went on two runs with my Google Fitbit Air and it was right there with my sports watch on Heart rate and steps Step count was good too, but when I went on a couple of runs, the distance was off. I learned that you need to take your phone with you on a run to calibrate your stride length, so I'm optimistic it will make the proper adjustments. Until then, I can adjust the distance manually through the app. Sleep tracking is very good. It breaks down each sleep state and gives you a comprehensive breakdown. I've had good nights and bad nights and it's been honest with me. You can set alarms to establish a consistent sleep routine. You can also look at graphs of key metrics to see patterns in your sleep routines. There's a sleep better section that helps you sleep with mediation, relaxing sounds and music, de-stressing, and sleep stories. The Fitness section includes a ton of activities that your Fitbit can track. I typically run and do strength workouts. It breaks down your cardio fitness with metrics such as Resting Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variability, Cardio Load, and Total Energy Burned. If I choose running, it gives me more specific metrics such as VO2 Max tracking and how many floors I've climbed, Steps, and Running Distance. There's a workout library with instructors including Peloton classes and strength workouts. Health metrics look at Heart Rate, Cardio Load, Resting Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen, Energy Burned, and a ton of other metrics. You can track your food intake, hydration, weight, carbs, fat, and calories. You can scan barcodes to input food, drinks, and amounts. You can store medical records securely from doctors or even apps. Google uses this to help offer personal recommendations or health plans. I'm getting about a week between charges, and charging is really fast. In about 15 minutes I'm already up to about 65%. - Pros and Cons - *Pros* * Lightweight, You rarely know it's there * Water resistance is good, I don't recall it ever feeling wet during workouts, rain, or anytime I made contact with water * Google Health app is well-organized and the menus are simple and easy to follow * Heart Rate is accurate * Sleep tracking is comprehensive * Fast charges in 15 minutes * Screenless design cuts down on constantly checking metrics * Velcro band adjusts very easily * Design blends in very well with my dress-shirts *Suggestions/Needs Improvement* * GPS is dependent on your phone * I caught the band on a few objects The Google Fitbit Air Special Edition (Stephen Curry) is stylish but functional. What I like most about this tracker is that for the first time in a while, I'm wearing a Fitness tracker that stays out of the way. There's no display lighting up at the wrong moment with notifications. I can look at the data when I want to and it's invisible when I don't. Google really nailed this. If you want a Smart Fitness Tracker that stylish, comfortable and blends in well with whatever your wearing, the Curry Edition is the right choice.
