What can I say - Apple makes a great product, and having the 15" MacBook Pro, this is the charger to get for USB Type-C. The good news is that the cable now disconnects completely from the brick, a la iPad/iPhone USB chargers of heritage, but this discnnnection leaves a small problem that the pricing guys hope you won't notice: To use this device, you NEED to have a separate USB Type-C cable (NOT included). This charger is also approximately the same price as the FORMER MagSafe charger of similar capacity (85w - For the legacy MacBook Pro 15 Retina (2012-2015 Ivy Bridge/Haswell/Broadwell models). Having to pay the same, then an additional ~$20 for the connection to the MacBook itself seems like a tough pill to swallow. My only other gripe is that the charger no longer supports cable management, likely as a result of the removal of the built-in cable... This would have been an awesome feature to keep on the brick for storage of the separate (and separately sold) USB-C cable. Besides those two issues with the removal of things in the design, Apple makes a trustworthy solid device that holds up to wear and tear... These cords made of white polycarbonate rarely show scratches or scuffs as easily as other adapters, and still look better than the "black brick" chargers from some PCs (though progressive types like HP have mocked this design and have some nice looking AC adapters these days for their own Type-C devices!) Definitely worth 4 stars, but if they'd bring cable management back and INCLUDE the Type-C cable for this amount, I'd be trying to find a way to give it 6 stars!

This is typical Apple build quality - And its still compatible with Apple's extension cords and International "Duckheads" from all the way back in 2008. These new "Type-C" chargers follow the same basic design as Apple's MagSafe chargers did from 2008-onwards, but there are a few differences that keep these from being a "5-star" experience in my view: - The Charger no longer offers a cord management system to wind the cord up with the charger. This requires that the cord be wound up separately on its own and with no retaining clip, a third party solution to contain the cable is required to store the cable. - The USB Type-C cable separates from the charger. While this is wonderful from the perspective of being able to JUST replace the cable if damaged, and for storage reasons, this prevents certain wear/tear scenarios where the previous chargers had problems, its also problematic for loss risk and the fact that the charger pricing has not decreased and you will need to purchase an Apple USB Type-C Charging cable separately. All in all this is well constructed and works consistently. The 87w model charges the MacBook Pro 15 to spec, and charges my 12" MacBook Retina extremely fast. Good product with some questionable design changes that drive up the total cost.

When I boguht the new Macbook Pro I never thought that my charger would burn up. Well it did. For some reason it got so hot that it melted the USB-C cable. Anyways this left me with calling Apple to have it replaced. Apple was good about it and said they would send out a new one but I would not recive it until the next week because it was on a Friday. So I opted to get it from BestBuy. My local store did not have them in stock and I needed my laptp to work over the weekend so I drive to the next closest store. When doing so I was involed in a small care accadent and the guy who hit my mirror lost his temper and decided to have road rage and attact me. So the police had to be called and needless to say a trip for this power adapter turned out to be a very bag day. I ended up makign and getting the adapter. It's been flawless and has worked wonderfuly. Apple did end up sending the replacement so now I have two but to end a long story I should have just enjoyed my weekend rather then trying to work.

      High Quality, Terrible Value

The product has the signature quality and presentation of an Apple product but, even for Apple, an $80 power adapter that does not include a charging cable necessary for its use stretches credulity. I bought it because I needed it and this is the only adapter that will charge the latest generation of larger MBP at full speed and keep it fully powered under heavy load. But it's hard to be satisfied with a purchase like this. With a MacBook at least, you can feel like you're paying a premium for a great computer. With a power adapter (not even a cord - that's not included!) it feels more like extortion than buying a quality product you want. Bottom line: buy this if you must. But don't plan to enjoy the experience or find value.

I bought this charger for my HP Spectre x360 because I bent the connector on the original one within 2 days. I could have spent $80 on a new HP cord and block, but I knew I would more than likely bend the connector again sometime in the future. Because you can add your charging cord to the Apple Power Adapter, I could buy as many extra cords as I like without the fear of breaking them and having to dish out $80 for a new adapter each time. Plus it's a lot smaller and easier to travel with than the original HP one that came with my computer.

      Missing the cable!!

Heads up, know this. This Power Adapter is literally ONLY the Power Adapter (brick) and not the traditionally understood "power cord". It's a high quality adapter that has some heft, but works well. It's serialized and macOS knows the unit and can report on it, but this does not include the critically required USB-C Power Cable that attached the brick to your computer. You'll need to purchase this separately. For that reason, and the reason that it is NOT clearly printed or labeled on the packaging, to a 3/5. It's a quality product, but it is incomplete the the widely understood norm of what a "Power Adapter" is.

My new MacBook Pro battery died, my charger is at work, so I run to Best Buy and buy a new power brick just like years ago with my previous MagSafe charger which is incompatible with the new USB-C MacBook which really stinks since the MagSafe was the best power cord ever. Get home (45 min round trip) open the new charger and guess what, no USB-C cable is included. Man was I upset!! Nowhere on the box does it say that the cable is not included! So, not only is the MagSafe gone, but no cable at all is included with the new charger. Terrible, what is wrong with Apple?

The Apple 87W USB-C power adapter allows me to charge my MacBook Pro 15-inch. Combined with the USB-C charging cable (sold separately) I am able to have a complete setup at the office (large external monitor, keyboard, mouse, power adapter, charging cable) so that I can work productively while at the office and maintain an extra charging cable and power adapter in my backpack for when I am on the go. I definitely recommend using Apple genuine accessories with Apple products and am very happy with this purchase.
