Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the PowerShot SX730 HS's superior image quality, ease of use, and compact size as significant advantages. Many appreciate the convenient flip screen and the camera's lightweight design, making it ideal for travel. However, some users express concerns about the flash functionality and its performance in low-light conditions. A few also mention that the price point could be considered somewhat high.

Canon Powershot SX730 Super Cool for Concerts

Love this thing! Most concerts don't allow cameras with removable lenses. This one is the best as it has a 40x OPTICAL zoom....(don't fall for cameras that boast digital....you will NEVER get a clear pict using digital zoom) You can be the envy of your concert going friends using their iPhones trying to capture an image like this....! Last pict at The Stones concert shows how far back I was and still got some incredible photos no phone camera would achieve. Stop relying on your phone for everything!!!!!

The zoom is great. Photos come out really nice. It’s not a great low light camera for concerts which I bought it for. Jpg only I wish I had looked harder for a camera with a good zoom like this that shoots raw files.

I got this camera for my birthday this past year. My specific need was a point and click camera with decent optical zoom that I could take to concerts. Most venues, if they allow cameras at all, will not allow cameras with detachable lenses. They limit you to a point and shoot with permanently attached lens. I’ve taken this camera to a couple of concerts and with the 40X optical zoom I get great photos from even the cheap seats. I have found that image stability is marginal at the higher zoom due to body shake so I typically have to rest the camera on my knee or put elbows on my knee to stabilize the camera, then the image stability can make up the difference. I also took the camera on a backpacking trip in the mountains and it took wonderful pictures of the mountains and valleys. I tweaked photos with some of the adjustments like ISO or shutter speed. Perfect quick shot companion. I love it’s size, small enough to put into your pocket or small pouch attached to your belt or backpack strap for quick access. If you are looking for a compact high optical zoom point and shoot you will be hard pressed to find something better than this Powershot

This camera does a pretty good job. I’ve been using primarily for video. The quality seems good. It starts up pretty quick. The viewfinder is nice. Battery life has been good. Sometimes is is a little slow at changing light conditions but I was moving inside and out quickly so I can’t say how it really compares with other cameras. For the price, I think it is very good.

    Learning digital photo & video

Spent lots of time with very patient BB people before selecting this camera. Wanted low cost as possible to learn about digital. Decades ago I was a better than average film person working with relatives who were pro. Now, want to come up to speed with digital photo, video (and editors and sound). Before spending too much through guess work, got this camera as a hands-on trainer. It was a given that there will be a higher performance camera in the future, but first I have to know why I should go up a level. Good camera while I transfer old knowledge and learn the newer ways. Likes: (1)Can play with ISO. (2)Charge batter off camera. (3) Image stabilization while walking is very good, but do not run. Negatives that I knew before buying: (1)Delayed auto focus, (2) Final image may be cropped at top, therefore leave room in the screen viewer when using zoom and macro. (3) Small sensor therefore, be creative with low light conditions. Even on auto, this is better than a point-and-shoot. The mobile phone camera is not used much any more. So far it has been fun going for "that shot" knowing I do not have a kit of lenses, filters, hot shoe tools, etc.; forces me to learn the camera.

I have a few other good DLSR cameras but cant have one with me at all times so a good pocket camera helps to catch those moments when I don't have a big DLSR with me. this camera is better than a cell phone camera with great zoom. my subjects ( moving aircraft ) are normally a mile away at start of filming to just a couple feet at completion and the camera works great. only complaint is no sound input and flip screen only goes up not out to side.

We bought this camera for the Mrs because of the size, weight and many functions, especially the long zoom. We travel to national parks and always keep a good camera for those shots where you need quick response and fast, long zoom. This fits the bill. Canon always shoots the shot well.

Having had quite a few Canon cameras, I can get a bit critical when new models come out -- particularly when I'm replacing one that I love. My wife and I were going to be out of country for several weeks and wanted to be able to take pictures, but also be on the go the whole trip. I ditched my large body camera and picked this one up. Absolutely wonderful decision! The image quality is excellent, the low-light capability good, size & ergonomics excellent, video quality excellent and that zoom! Wow! The zoom makes this camera a must-buy for me. It also has the option of plugging in a microphone, making this a really decent option for recording live events. With the retracting lens its pretty compact and not overly heavy. There are smaller/lighter cameras out there, but none with this amount of optical zoom and features. The one ding to this camera is the flip-up screen. I've been spoiled by Canon's articulating screens. This one ONLY flips up, not out or down. So if you want to hold the camera above your head to get a picture of the stage, you can't look up at the screen. Or if you want to hold the camera flush up against something and flip the screen to the side, you can't. It only flips up -- great for low shots or selfies, but not much else.

I found this camera easy to use out of the box, even before you read instructions to use more complex features. The size and weight are perfect, solid feeling without being cumbersome. I've taken great pictures during some busy fun times and been very happy with the results.

I'm a point-&-shooter so usually use Auto setting. The Powershot SX 730 camera is comfortable to hold & easy to operate. After 2nd charge, the battery lasts all day. Enlargements look good. Salesman said it required a micro SD card which I needlessly bought because it accepts an SD card. Have not yet learned to use its many functions.

This camera is the best for the price and ease of use. It really helps out for eliminating the shakiness when zooming into a shot. The color is spot on. It fits well in the hand for carrying and is not too heavy, yet it also fits into my pants pocket..
