good game- archaic licensing arrangement

I was led to believe it could be downloaded on a series x, and then transferred to series s over internet.. It cannot. It is cd locked, which is awful and archaic this day and age.
Especially for 50 plus dollars. Love the physical copy, but Why do I still need the non-physical copy. ridiculous
