While i own the previous J9+ in one of our floors, i decided to get one for my second floor. The previous model never leaked or gave me issues but this new system they have is leaking everywhere. Water leaks underneath the base and completly ruin my wood floors. Taking this back and will likely need to pay thousands to repair the warped wood flooring.

It got mud in the dirt bin. And then sucked it out into the collection bin and clogged it up. Had it less than a week, returned it. Went with a robar rock. Much better, only differences are now. I have to push a button to start But at least it does its job and does it right.

This machine can still not find its way back to "home base". It has scuffed up my floor boards by banging them, it leaves obvious dirt on the floor and the mop leaves streaks which I have to manually mop up. Unreliable, does not function well and definitely not worth the price.

Being a multiple dog household, we were unsure about an automatic robot floor cleaner that might be roughed up by our dogs who do not trust our standing vacuum cleaners. Also, I was unsure about using anything other than robust vacuums that specialize in pet hair. Thirdly, my kids are messy, and I was worried that a robot cleaner might choke on a random sock or crayon or lego piece or pieces of paper. Roomba Combo 10 Max works decently on hardwood floors and navigates gracefully around stuff on the floor. However, I had a tough time figuring out the gadget (and app) and am still unsure if I am doing everything correctly. The biggest gripe is that a 1400 dollar product came with zero instructions and manual. Finally, it did not perform well in carpeted areas. Packaging: The gadget came safely packed. The packaging material is tough and unboxing was not frustrating at all. Assembly did not take much time. The box contains some spares that will eventually come in handy. Usability: Usability is a big issue. The box came without a manual. At first it was difficult to figure out what to do with the machine and we did not want to break it (mind you, we are quite tech savvy and now spare a thought for the average American who are not!). Being a first-time user of a robot cleaner, I was extremely lost and frustrated initially. For instance, the ON light turned off after a few seconds of being plugged in and I had no idea why. I tried reconnecting it to other plug points on my wall and tried tightening the connection behind the machine, but the ON light kept turning off. I eventually found a pdf of a Roomba 9 series that provided some ideas of how to get the machine started. I understood that the machine was saving electricity, and it was supposed to turn off after 4 seconds of connection. Again, I am a first-time user of Roomba and some of the functionalities were not intuitive for me. The basic rule of usability is “do not make your user think.” I did not appreciate that I was expected to know or figure things out without a manual. The new Roomba failed miserably on that count. Without easy access to user instructions, I underwent a steep learning curve. Honestly, I am still unsure about how to use the machine after using it about 7 times. I would have loved to see a QR code with an online user guide and/or videos. FYI, the user guide was posted on the iRobot website a week before the review was written (on Aug 7, 2024): https://homesupport.irobot.com/s/article/843. App: As I was struggling with the robot, I was hoping to find a user manual somewhere on the App. There was none. I was not able to use the app correctly, either. The wifi and Bluetooth connections were good but the app made me put the Roomba resort to factory set up three times citing some errors. Again, without easy access to a manual, I was hunting around for answers on Google. I started the machine manually the first few uses before figuring out the app. The app, not as intuitive as one would hope, crashed on me quite a few times, too. The learning curve of the app is quite steep, too. Since I like to move around lighter furniture and chairs to make sure that floor is cleaned well, the mapping feature is sometimes getting a little confused. Also, it tries to mop and vacuum the same areas multiple times, thereby needing my intervention. I still have to figuring out the app function on mapping multiple floors. Again, this is something that I need to learn and figure out gradually. Look: The Roomba looks neat; its dock looks cute and inconspicuous. The dock could function as a side table, but it is a little too low for one. I have not found a function for it, yet. Loud: The vacuum is quite loud. If you want to watch TV while the Roomba is doing its job, you will definitely need to turn up the volume. It is not a gadget that will “quietly” work in the background. Once the machine docks, the cleaning/drying mechanism is very, very loud. The internal cleaning and drying is probably very thorough but the loudness is quite annoying. Pets: Much to my relief, the dogs did not see the Roomba as a threat. The senior dog tripped over it once (poor dear) and decided to ignore it completely. The puppy, who fights and bites our standing vacuum cleaners, often drops her toys in front of the moving Roomba and gets into her butt up play position. It is very fun to watch the two get along well. Hardwood Floor: Owners with large shedding dogs know that our floors are never clean. At least not for long after one round of vacuuming. I was amazed to find that the robot could pick up pet hair very efficiently. It performs near-perfectly on hardwood floors. I love that it is able to cover quite a lot of space (I want to say approximately 900 square feet of floor area before going back to its “home” for garbage disposal. It leaves the floor quite clean and covers every inch. However, the 90-degree angle corners are not cleaned completely. It is not a huge complaint, though, because I do not mind getting a paper towel and cleaning up a tiny bit of pup fur from the deep corners. Someday the designers will invent a technology that recognizes corners and sends cleaning tentacles out for perfect cleaning of the corners. Mopping: The mopping function is not efficient. It leaves two narrow wet parallel lines when it senses the need to mop (a cool robotic feature) instead of one wide wet mopped area as shown in the videos. The floor, therefore, is never completely mopped. Our natural hardwood floor has some knotty patches that are not completely flat. I think the Roomba decided that the roughness was dirt and went over the patch about eight times. I thought that was a cool, intelligent function. Carpet: As expected, the Roomba moved slower on the carpet and covered much less area before asking for the bin to be emptied. This would, of course, depend on the amount of fur your pups shed, if you have one or some. I am not completely satisfied with the performance of the Roomba on carpet. It left clumps of fur throughout the area and I had to go around the room picking up clumps of fur. I should not have to pick up after a 1400$ robot. The robot is probably not the best on carpets in a house that has multiple high-shedding dogs. Battery life could be better on carpet. While there are no complaints about battery performance on hardwood floor, on carpet, the battery ran out after cleaning around 300 square feet floor area. The bin needed to be emptied after every 15 minutes or so. This is not a Roomba that will automatically clean high traffic carpet areas in households with dogs. Clutter: The Roomba navigates around toys and furniture with smartness and agility. Surprisingly, it handled cords quite well. It went over the wires a few times without getting stuck. This is quite cool because I do not have to worry about it getting stuck or tangled. In order to let the Roomba move around, I ended up removing the clutter on the floor. This was a welcome side-effect of owning a Roomba. Going into the dock: The Roomba could not get inside the dock without a little push. I made sure that the dock entrance was completely clear and flat but it still went back and forth several times but got stuck while backing into the dock. We had to physically push it inside since it kept running out of battery trying to enter the dock.

Great new robot and amazing vacuuming but...

The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max is a great option to consider when looking for a vacuum robot for your house. Over the years, vacuums have been adding capacity, independence, simplicity of use, and versatility for different surfaces and the max 10 can tick all those boxes with great note. If you are in the market for a robot vacuum, this could be one of the best options, notably considering the big experience of the iRobot brand. I own three vacuum robots at home, distributed across the three floors of my house, so I have been able to compare the three models (one is a Roomba 9) with the new one and its performance in a few different areas: 1.- Sofware and app. (Quite good app average time needed for the first experience) I think that iRobot has created and developed over the years a great app that is very intuitive for new users. Launching the vacuuming and controlling the cleaning areas is very simple. In your first job, the robot will be able to draw a map of the floor. Once is done, directly in the app, you will be able to play with the maps defining vacuuming jobs (all the area, just the kitchen…). Note that if you are a first user, downloading the app will also require you to create an account, after that just need to add the robot to your account (the first time was 5 to 10 min). Surprisingly adding the robot to my already existing account took me a while (more than 35 minutes). It seems that the app was previously linked to a different account and I was forced to reset the robot before linking again. Attention because this is not evident and the instructions in the app are not so intuitive, after a few tries, I went to YouTube for a tutorial. After that time, all done but I recommend iRobot to do a review of its Tutorials. As with most of the new technology, a software upgrade to your robot is needed before your first job. This also took more than 20 minutes(despite the “estimated time in the app was always under 4 min). It seems that the download in the app was fast but the transfer to the robot was quite slow. 2.- First use and size (too bulky and big, not for a discreet area in the living room). The base is big and heavy, and the need to include the two containers (for clean and for dirty water) makes the size of the dock huge. The black color and the plastic materials of the exterior make this a non-aesthetic element and something that you probably would like to hide. 3.- Functioning (amazing) I think that this is the area where this robot excels all the other ones in my house. Cleanings are awesome. The functionality of this robot recognizing the surface and combining the vacuuming with the mopping, makes this a new favorite. Three considerations: Vacuuming is deep and you can see the difference that it is centrally located with dual rubber Brushes plus the swiping elements made in the floors. Here, I can include a brief reference to noise that in my opinion, compared with all the other models is quite acceptable. Note that vacuuming is always a noisy task. Mopping, yes is great that the robot detects the surface and the level of dirt is pushing out the mop and with the soapy water in the robot, cleans the floors. The robot has a circular form (round) but despite it, and thanks to the large swiping brushes, access impressively to the corners. A final consideration where again this is the best option, the version 10 Max, which adds an interesting development that I personally appreciate. Its capacity to recognize the obstacles, including small Lego pieces or the wires on the floor avoids the typical situations of having your robot with something stocked in the brushes. 4.- Post-cleaning and life (this is the shocking negative part) I am (negatively) surprised that after developing so a performing machine the after-cleaning process is so basic and noisy (really, really noisy). Here, I am referring to the moment when the robot after work returns to the base does three elements: a.- It empties the dust in the bin. Inverse vacuuming from the robot to the dock station. Efficient and 6 over 10 in noise. b.- It extracts the dirty water user for mopping and sends it to the dirty water container in the dock. 5 over 10 in noise. c.- Cleaning the mop in the robot for future use. This is a brilliant idea but has a 10 over 10 in noise. Not sure if better options were considered by engineers but this is a bit bummer for a new tool. Another consideration of this brand, note that this comment is based on the fact that I have a previous iRobot with the same rubber brusses models, is the life expectancy of those brushes and the price of replacing them. Sorry, but I still don’t understand why those brushes can resist so little time and can be damaged by the long hair of the ladies in my house. Often when hair is stuck in brushes it functions like a knife cutting the brush into two making it useless. The price of spares is not cheap. I wish they decided to use, like in other brands a more sustainable option that would not require replacements, I guess that this is part of business. With all the elements above, and considering that the first and foremost important function is vacuuming, this is a great option but I hope version 11 can be my five starts.

Collects all the dog hair! YES!

It’s been a while that I have owned an iRobot Roomba Vacuum because I sold my last one after I moved, and never really purchased another because I felt like the suction power of my last one was not as strong as a handheld vacuum, and with dogs in my home, I need a vacuum that performs and collects all the dog hair. I have used this iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot with the AutoWash Dock for about 3 weeks, and I have been pleasantly surprised at how good it’s collecting the dog hair and removing those water stains they leave after drinking water. A test I have done in the past with previous robotic vacuums is after it is doing vacuuming in my carpet, I go back and pass the same area with my handheld vacuum, and usually there is always still some dog hair that is collected just because the suction power is not strong enough. Well, I can truly say that my favorite part about this 10 Max Robot vacuum is that the suction power is that strong because I did this same test, and my handheld vacuum did not collect additional dog hair! Yes! Finally, a robotic vacuum that performs as good as a handheld one! Here is a quick breakdown of why I give this i Robot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot with the AutoWash Dock a 5/5 stars! Cleaning Performance 5/5 The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max offers impressive cleaning power, efficiently covering every corner of the house. It handles different floor types seamlessly and does a great job picking up pet hair, dust, and other debris. In addition, the mopping feature is just as efficient, and the App makes the cleaning very customizable to determine the strength of the cleaning session. Navigation and Smart Features 5/5 The App is super easy to use and allows for creating different cleaning plans. I can decide to clean my whole home or just to focus on the carpet where there is usually more dog hair. The App and the vacuum map out your space and adapts to obstacles, providing a comprehensive clean without running into issues or getting stuck. The user-friendly app makes it easy to schedule cleanings, customize routines, and control the vacuum remotely. Overall, I am super stoke because this iRobot vacuum performs as strong as my handheld vacuum and I know the dog hair is being collected. This is going to help me keep my spaces clean with a press of a button. I will say that when you select the cleaning to be deep and with the strongest suction power and mopping power, the cleaning time does increase and it can take 3-4 hours for the job to be done, but for me I don’t mind this as long as the house gets clean! The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max is a keeper in our home and I can now trust robotic vacuums again!

Robotic vacuums have come a very long way. From Ouija board cleaning patterns and getting lost under tables to house mapping and active object avoidance, the technology is astounding. At the pinnacle of robotic cleaning is the Roomba Combo 10 Max. Setup was not exactly smooth. There is a quick start guide that provides about 10% of the information you need and a QR code that took me to the iRobot App that I already had and did not provide any additional information for setup. Luckily I have a fair amount of experience with these robotic vacuums and began exploring on my own. There are numerous stickers with rudimentary diagrams both on and in the robot and the docking station. If you have owned a Roomba previously, these stickers should give you an idea of what needs to be done. If not, the iRobot website does include a much more detailed instruction manual for the robot. The app setup did take approximately 10 minutes to update and load the "experience" as the app calls it. So make sure to bring your patience. The instructions also state to provide a couple feet of room on either side of the docking station, however in my tests this has not proven necessary as this guy always finds his home. Once setup, the Roomba Combo 10 Max is a powerhouse of suction, and why I named my assistant "Kirby". Kirby employs a systematic approach to cleaning leaving an obvious and satisfying path of cleanliness in the carpet behind. Also, after a single cleaning, Kirby had my house mapped and accurately labeled by room. Kinda creepy, but very helpful. It was even able to tell the difference between carpet and hardwood! With an accurate map, I then could tell Kirby, either at an instance or through a schedule, to clean certain rooms. And when Kirby returned to its dock, the auto empty feature is extremely handy. Where this model turns up though, is that the dock actually cleans the bottom of the robot after each cleaning! From the vacuum and doc standpoint, this robot is a homerun. Every product has a downside though. And this Roomba does not really make a difference when mopping. Even with all the technology employed into this device, the mopping is the equivalent to moistening a rag and having the Roomba tow it behind. The mopping feature could be best described as a window dressing. Also, although a great feature, when the dock cleans and dries the cloth, it can be distracting as it blows air over the pad for nearly an hour. This product comes with a hefty price tag and is far from a budget minded solution. However, you definitely get what you pay for. Over the last couple weeks this automated cleaner has been the most reliable cleaning robot I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Is the Roomba Combo 10 worth it? Well, only your budget can tell you that. However, I am more than pleased to have Kirby in my life.

Packaging - The robot was boxed very nice and neat. Everything was in its place inside the box. App - The app was easy to setup and connection was easily attached to my wifi without any drama. Several customizable settings in the app including scheduling specific rooms or everything. Mapping the house - was very easy as well. Mapped our entire house within about an hour. Tested mopping only the Kitchen and the office areas which has tile floors. Blocked the other rooms from being mopped which worked perfectly. I set the rooms and let it go. It mapped the halls, bedrooms, living room, family room, dining room, kitchen and office. Yes we have a pretty large house. It cleaned the entire house and mopped the two rooms I requested without fail. Easy to add water for mopping and clean after mopping with dumping the water from the dirty water bin. Built very solid and awesome to watch the method it uses to mop the floor. It is a spectacular machine and am very impressed. It also learns when it sees obstacles it allows you to set specific commands how to deal with it. I am very impressed with the speed of the robot and how good of a job it does. Highly recommend this machine for anyone needing a really good vaccum.

Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to try several robot vacuums, but nothing has come close to the iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot Vacuum and Mop + AutoWash Dock. This unit offers so many features and outperforms all previous units and it also includes a mop feature! As a dog owner, this is a must have for keeping our hardwood and carpets free of hair and dirt on a regular basis. What’s in the box: - iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot Vacuum and Mop - AutoWash Docking Station - 1 x Extra Microfiber Mopping Pad - 1 x Extra Dirt Disposal Bag - 1 x Extra High-Efficiency Filter - 1 x Extra Edge-Sweeping Brush - Setup: There are extensive instructions included (user manual) that are easy to follow and stickered step-by-step instructions on the vacuum that made the initial setup a breeze. IRobot Roomba has done an amazing job of simplifying the setup process for the non-technical user. Literally there are only a couple of pieces that need to be put together before initial use. The areas being mapped should be accessible to the Combo 10 Max for a successful mapping process. This system uses VSLAM instead of Lidar to map out the spaces requiring cleaning. Once the area is mapped, rooms can be identified, and zones can be setup and customized as desired. There are numerous settings available based on user preferences in the IRobot Roomba app. Cleaning: Vacuuming - The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max is the most powerful robot vacuums I have experienced. It has handled every bit of pet hair and dirt that’s been thrown at it! For being such a powerful vacuum, the unit runs very quietly making it unnoticeable as it goes about its work. It will auto-sense heavier dirt and increase power as needed. I found the dual rubber brushes do wonders for picking up pet hair but not getting fowled like similar robots I’ve used in the past. Mopping - The mopping performance far exceeded my expectations. We have a small dog that keeps us on our toes in terms of cleaning the hardwood and tile flooring and it’s now a snap to keep floors clean. Unlike previous robot vacs I’ve used in the past, the Combo 10 Max does not avoid carpeting when mopping, instead it can do both by retracting the mopping head out of the way. AutoWash Dock – The docking station is also a filled with technology that should not be overlooked. It charges the unit, cleans out the gray water and replenished the clean water, dries the mopping pad and empties the vacuum bag. It’s a powerful dock but almost half the size of the dock from a previous model robot. It is easily setup in the corner of our kitchen area that leads into the dining and living rooms. iRobot Home App: The app is really the control center behind the robot and is packed with setting for customizing the vacuum to your home/use. It’s also user-friendly even for the non-technical users out there. There are so many features I’m still working my way through them all. There were software and firmware updates available at setup, they ran for a bit, but it’s always good to have the latest and greatest versions running. The robot's schedule, which rooms to clean, etc. can all be customized through the app. Pros: - Easy to set up, operate and clean - Substantial build quality and design of vacuum and base unit - iRobot Home app is user friendly and packed with features - Cleaning capabilities of the mopping function are outstanding - Very quiet yet powerful vacuuming and mostly self-sufficient - Auto clean features of the docking station make clean up a breeze - Extra cleaning pieces included with initial purchase Cons: - Although the robot is relatively quiet, the docking station operation can get a bit loud Overall: The iRobot Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot Vacuum and Mop is a top-quality product packed with valuable and user-friendly features. It’s probably the smartest “smart” device we own but is a breeze to setup and operate. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a robot vacuum with mopping capabilities.

Key Features Powerful Vacuum and Suction Power The Roomba Combo 10 MAX is equipped with robust vacuuming capabilities that stand out in a crowded market. Its suction power is notably strong, ensuring that it picks up even the smallest particles of dust, debris, and pet hair. Whether it’s your carpet, hardwood, or tile floors, this robot vacuum ensures a thorough clean. The powerful suction is particularly impressive on carpets, where embedded dirt and dust can be challenging for other robot vacuums to handle effectively. The Roomba Combo 10 MAX doesn’t just clean; it deep cleans, making your floors look as good as new. Dry Rug Smart Intelligence One of the standout features of the Roomba Combo 10 MAX is its Dry Rug Smart Intelligence. This feature allows the robot to automatically detect the difference between rugs and hard floors. When the robot encounters a rug, it intuitively adjusts its cleaning mode to avoid wet mopping on the rug, ensuring that it only vacuums the area. This smart feature is a game-changer for homes with mixed flooring, as it eliminates the hassle of manually setting boundaries or worrying about wet rugs. The Roomba Combo 10 MAX takes care of it all, allowing you to enjoy clean floors without any additional effort. Auto Wash Functionality Another remarkable feature of the Roomba Combo 10 MAX is its Auto Wash functionality. After completing a cleaning cycle, the robot returns to its docking station, where it automatically washes and dries the mopping pad. This feature is not only convenient but also ensures that the mop is always clean and ready for the next use. The automatic washing mechanism is thorough, removing dirt and grime from the pad, while the drying function prevents any unpleasant odors from developing. This level of automation enhances the user experience, making the Roomba Combo 10 MAX a truly hands-free cleaning solution. Easy-to-Use App The Roomba Combo 10 MAX also comes with a user-friendly app that makes controlling and monitoring the device a breeze. The app offers a range of customizable options, allowing users to set cleaning schedules, define no-go zones, and even monitor the cleaning progress in real-time. The interface is intuitive, ensuring that even those who are not tech-savvy can navigate it with ease. The app's seamless integration with the robot ensures that users can manage their cleaning tasks remotely, adding to the overall convenience of the Roomba Combo 10 MAX. What’s in the Box? The Roomba Combo 10 MAX comes with all the essentials needed to get started right out of the box. Here’s what you can expect: Robot Vacuum: The heart of the system, equipped with all the advanced features and technology to provide an efficient cleaning experience. Docking Station: The docking station is more than just a charging base; it’s an essential part of the Roomba Combo 10 MAX’s functionality. Cleaning Solution: The cleaning solution provided ensures that the robot can tackle tough stains and dirt with ease. Docking Station Design and Features The docking station of the Roomba Combo 10 MAX is not just a place for the robot to recharge. It's a sleek and functional unit that enhances the overall performance of the vacuum. Aesthetic Appeal: The docking station is designed with aesthetics in mind, featuring a modern look that blends seamlessly with any home decor. The station also has a handle at the back, making it easy to lift and move around as needed. Indicators for Enhanced Usability: On top of the docking station, you’ll find several indicators that provide real-time information on the device’s status. These indicators alert you if the door is not closed properly or if the dirty liquid tank needs to be emptied. This ensures that the station operates smoothly and efficiently, without the need for constant monitoring. Dual Water Tanks: Inside the docking station, there are two water tanks – one for clean water and another for dirty water. The tanks are equipped with front handles, making them easy to pull out when needed. However, it's advisable to use both hands for support when removing the tanks to prevent any accidental spills or mishaps. Dust Collector with Bag Installation: The docking station also includes a dust collector with a bag installed, which collects the dust and debris from the vacuum. This feature ensures that the cleaning process is as hands-free as possible, reducing the need for frequent maintenance. Self-Cleaning Mechanism: Perhaps one of the most impressive aspects of the docking station is its ability to suck the dust from the robot and clean the mopping pad automatically. The station also dries the pad after washing, ensuring that it’s ready for the next cleaning session. This self-cleaning mechanism sets the Roomba Combo 10 MAX apart from many of its competitors, offering unparalleled convenience and efficiency. Performance and Usability The Roomba Combo 10 MAX excels in its primary function – cleaning. It does a fantastic job of picking up dust, dirt, and debris from various surfaces. However, to get the most out of the device, it's important to set up the mapping correctly. The app allows you to create no-clean zones, which helps the robot navigate more effectively around your home. While the robot is quite good at detecting larger objects, smaller items like toys can occasionally be missed, so it's advisable to clear the area of such obstacles before starting a cleaning session. The mopping pad, though thin, is highly effective at cleaning floors. It’s stored on top of the robot and automatically moves down when the device begins cleaning or performing an auto wash. This level of automation simplifies the cleaning process, ensuring that your floors are always clean without any manual intervention. The User Experience: A Truly Hands-Free Cleaning Solution The Roomba Combo 10 MAX offers an unparalleled user experience, largely due to its advanced automation features. The combination of powerful suction, intelligent navigation, and self-cleaning capabilities makes it a standout product in the market. The ease of use is further enhanced by the app, which provides users with full control over the device, allowing them to customize and monitor the cleaning process with ease. Whether you have a busy household or simply prefer to spend your time on other activities, the Roomba Combo 10 MAX is designed to take the burden of cleaning off your shoulders. It not only cleans but also maintains itself, ensuring that you always come home to a spotless living space. Conclusion In conclusion, the Roomba Combo 10 MAX is a top-tier robot vacuum that delivers on its promises. Its powerful suction, intelligent floor detection, auto wash feature, and user-friendly app make it a highly desirable product for anyone looking to invest in a smart cleaning solution. While it may have a few minor drawbacks, such as its occasional difficulty in detecting small objects, these are far outweighed by the numerous benefits it offers. If you’re in the market for a robot vacuum that does more than just clean, the Roomba Combo 10 MAX is well worth considering.
