We use this as a TV for streaming. It works well. We generally do not sit closely in front of it like a computer monitor. It is on the opposite side of the living room from our couch. This way we are only exposed to what we want to watch. Only see ads that we expect because it is part of whatever particular streaming platform we chose to watch. I don't believe it is spying on us or uploading (and maybe downloading) tons of bytes over the internet like modern TVs. Though, I am not tech savvy enough to know that for sure. Is it less convenient than a "smart" TV? Yes. That's the point. Bonus points if you can put it in some sort of cabinet so its not "just there" and thus requires a conscious choice to watch something.

I bought this to hook up to my iMac so I can see the screen. It works perfect and simple to set up. The only issue I had was the screws that hold the feet on. They are really soft and one head twisted right off, when I snugged it. So I left the other 3 slightly loose.
