Arms is fun and wacky and way deeper as a fighting game than any surface similarities it may share to wii boxing. The motion controls are very accurate so you quickly learn that this game is not about flailing your 'arms' wildly. The characters and arms themselves are quite varied, with a nice selection of options to outfit your arms with. Even though I recommend playing with motion controls you can change your controller scheme to single joy-con or pro controller if it suits you better (but I feel it would detract from the experience).Overall I think this game is worth it if you want to play something a bit different on your Switch and don't mind motion controls.

The gameplay itself is okay fun but the singleplayer portion leaves a lot to be desired. I enjoy games that are more story-oriented and this only has a minor Grand Prix. I feel that Nintendo is focusing more on multiplayer games and wishes to capitalize on this by forcing players to spend money to play online ($20/year). I don't approve of this direction, and will only support more story-focuses games. Buy it if you plan to play online a lot; I cannot recommend otherwise until there is a significant price drop (down to $30).

ARMS is Nintendo's newest IP of fighters with extendable arms. Play it with motion controls using the Joy-Con or sitting on the couch with the Joy-Con Grip or the Pro Controller (or single Joy-Con), ARMS gives you freedom to control the characters as they fight in very unique and interactive arenas. Even if you are a veteran of the fighting genre or new to it, there is a lot to like about ARMS. Nintendo also promises to regularly update the game with new characters and arenas throughout its first year, and the first character update has already been release.

Arms takes the competitive excitement of Boxing and mixes it with some unique motion control that only Nintendo could pull off. Character design and game play is the highlight of this game. Online matches for Arms run very smooth and is handled flawlessly by the unique match making lobby. The game is fun for all ages.

Great game for my kids! Amazing!!! Just remember to buy more control if you want to play with some else

ARMS is a new twist in fighting games. Each fighter has extendable arms in whitch they can equip dirrerent gloves called "ARMS" each has different abilities. Their are 10 (now 11) careacets tochose from each are unike as well. lts a fighting game with extendable arms. They could have put more backstory into the chacters with a story mode or even ulockable, lf you are looking for a dikkerent kind offighting game give ARMS a try.

This is the kind of game that is a mix of miner 2040 miner and whisper destruction. Amazing concept!

My son loves it and can't put it down. Need to get him his own gaming TV.

This game was fun for the first 3 days. Lost my interest fairly quickly.

ARMS is another great Nintendo game. It's a blast to play with friends and family. The gameplay is great, and it's a unique experience. My only issue with it is that it lacks content. There's not much to unlock, beyond extra arms to use. All in all, the game feels complete, though. There's plenty of characters, and a few extra modes. But, if you aren't planning on playing this game with friends/family, or online extensively, I'd recommend waiting until it goes on sale.

This is a great game to sit down and play with friends all on the same screen. The game can be played using motion, or just the joysticks. Playing solo online can get repetitive and isn't as much fun as playing with friends locally. If they find something more creative to add to the single player aspect of the game, I would increase my rating. I'd say this game is a better purchase if it were to go on sale, as I cannot completely recommend it at the current price.

Arms is a very neat and unique take on the fighting genre. Rather than 2D, it is a from behind the back 3D fighter. And rather than getting close and punching your opponent, arms is all about keeping your distance and using your spring like arms to strike your opponent with precision accuracy. Arms has a very fun online community, ranked online matches, and a decent single player. The single player Grand Prix is arms only weakness in my mind. The controls for arms are very intuitive and fun. The motion controls are fantastic and make it really feel like you are in the fight. The characters are incredibly unique and fun. The presentation is just great. I would recommend arms to anyone with a switch

This game was well beyond my expectations. The controls and depth of the movements, blocking, jumping, dashing and of course, punching is all very high. There are also lots of extra 'arms' to collect for various fighters, so there is a lot of replay ability. Added bonus - when you get up off the couch and use the Joy Con remotes configured for the arms, you'll have a lot of fun AND burn some extra calories! Small warning - the story mode on level 4 or above is NO JOKE when you get up to the higher stages, especially the final boss. I'd STRONGLY recommend playing on a lesser difficulty if you are just starting out. All in all, great fun and even the little ones (3 and 4) got the hang of it quickly, although the dashing and such was more involved than they could handle (yet!). If you have a Switch, get this game, you won't regret it.

My son and I really enjoy this one. It sounds really dumb when you read about it, but it's quite fun. You choose which fighter you want to be, then go fight. You have long arms that you control with motion controls (there are multiple control modes, but one controller in each hand, using motion is the best one, in my opinion). You can unlock and use different Arms on the fighters. I do with there were additional animations for some of the attacks...especially the 'grab' attack. Other than that, if you can grab this one on sale, go for it. Not sure I'd say it's worth $60, but Gamers Club 20% off or lower would be fair.

Sweet game. So many different ways to play it. I prefer to use the joy con and pretend I'm boxing. Lots of cool characters. Easy to learn. Hard to master. Fun for all ages.

I bought this game specifically with my 9 yr old daughter in mind. She's not huge into video games, but I was hoping the motion controls would entice her. She wasn't super interested until we started, but she quickly grew to love it. She especially likes 2 player co-op where you both fight together at the same time. She doesn't lose and she doesn't have to feel like I'm letting her win. The motion controls make this game, so another set of Joy-Cons is a must for 2 player. Great game!

I hadn't been super impressed with the multiplayer games available for the Switch (except for Mario Kart) so this was a welcome surprise! Great for new gamers as they have walkthrough tutorials and very fun and creative. You can play it single player to practice but it's not nearly as fun as playing it with others. It works super well with the Switch controllers, too, meaning it actually utilizes their features.

I didn't know what to expect with this game, but it's actually pretty good. Kids seem to catch on fast with the basics and moving around and punching. There's more strategy involved than just punching like crazy, and the different characters make it more fun. The arenas help to mix things up and I'm sure more downloadable characters will be coming. It's no Street Fighter or MK, but for Nintendo, this isn't bad at all!

I was never good in fighting games, and they rarely interested me. Even though I am a big nintendo fan, not even Super Smash does it for me personally. However, Arms brings interesting concept of motion controls of boxing like gameplay that made Wii Sports Boxing fun 10 years ago, to the next level. Controls method options are available. If you despise the "gimmick" of motion controls, you may play the game entirely with Pro Controller or docked JoyCons using buttons only. This will render a little bit better precision in timing of some inputs. However, motion controls are the highlighted option. In this fighting game, you actually have the camera behind (third person view) of your character. Motions with JoyCons imitating punches will make your character punch, though their spring like arms extend the punch. Moving your arms with the controllers, will make your character's spring arms curve in the direction you want. It is a surprising fidelity of motion control that makes the game very fun and engaging. The character can move around in the arena to anywhere you want. You may punch, jump, dodge, block, and grab. These simple mechanics work around the logic that: punches beat/cancel grabs, blocks cancel punches, and grabs beat blocks. Simple enough. Though superficially only. As you bump up difficulty, you will learn of further intricacies, such as counter punches, combined with the variety of Arms to be unlocked. The game has 10 characters. More coming through confirmed free DLC. Each character has their own stats of speed, defense, and power. Additionally, each has a unique ability. They vary from Regenerating health when blocking, to multiple air jumps, and even auto charge arms attack when low on health. Each character has a pre-set of 3 arms to choose. The arms are rather like boxing gloves that have unique stats/abilities, that range from fire to burn for extra time damage, freezing to slow down opponent, even creative ones such as boomerangs that make punches extra curved, or slapping arms that make punches more like whipping attacks. You may charge your punches to enable the element/power attack of chosen gloves. As you fight, you get credit points that can be used in a fun arcade game to unlock additional arms for all characters. Stages are few for now, but more may come through DLC. They are well designed and creative, ranging from beach day park, to dynamic changing terrain of a dance stage. There are several game modes. Championship which is a story-less career mode, where you choose difficulty and go through all characters fight in a typical fighter arcade run. V Ball, where a bomb inside a volley ball is thrown around, if ball stays in you court side for too long it explodes granting opponent team a point. Basketball mode, where you literally must grab enemy and throw him/her to a basketball hoop for points. Target practice. And team fights. All of the modes can be played locally single player, locally with up to 4 friends, in between local Nintendo Switch consoles, and Online. Online has additional 1 v 1 mode for ranked serious matches. Online mode also benefits of a dynamic party lobby that rearranges you and online contestants in various modes and fights. Something very fun and interesting to see as matches diagrams keep moving around live as you wait to join a match. Visuals are great as expected of true nintendo franchises. Full HD 1080p 60 frames per second gameplay for single player locally or online. Visuals drop to 900p 60fps for 2 players locally or online. And for 3 or 4 drops to 720p 30fps. If you aren't into fighting games like me, this may still interest you for the unique twists of modes and manner of actual fighting. It is fun for both casual players and hard core fighting gamers. I won't be surprised to see serious tournaments or eSports for this game in near future.
