A: The AT&T expansion phone must have a base unit in the system from which it receives its signal. A phone jack is not used. The expansion phone can be placed anywhere in the house as long as there is an electrical outlet nearby. An electrical outlet is required to keep the expansion phone charged on its small charging base. I added two expansion phones (I already had a base phone) and they work perfectly. The link-up to the base phone is not intuitive, but the directions supplied with the expansion phones were clear enough for a luddite like me to complete the process.
A: NO. AT&T EL50003/EL50013 will.
