I ordered this SSD online. The package I received was from the Best Buy Return Center. The package was crushed and it looked as though the seal had been reapplied. I'm pretty sure Best Buy sold me a returned item. As for the drive itself, it claims 2100Mbps read speed. Using a thunderbolt 4 port (USB 3.2) on my Yoga Book 9i, I achieved approx. 1750MBps read and write speeds using the included cable as well as a high speed cable of my own. That is a pretty impressive sustained speed rating. You can see in the screenshot of the speed test that it will handle almost all video editing needs. The drive is very small and portable. Fairly lightweight as well. In device properties, the drive internal manufacturer is Micron. So aside from the poor purchase experience, the drive itself gets high marks. I'll update my review if anything changes.

This ssd is much smaller than your palm and easily fits in a small zipper pocket of my bag. With 4 tb space, i can carry my entire load of pictures and videos. Speed of this drive is comparable with internal drives and can move gigabytes of data in seconds.

Excellent product! Runs really fast. As a pastor sometimes I need to make room fast on my memory card and this allows me to get moving in a timely manner.

I was absolutely jaw dropped floored at how crazy fast this thing moves data i moved a 56GB 4K movie in less than 30 seconds. The thing that upset me because i cant figure out how to fix comes from my ipad when i finish something i go to delete it but it will not let me. I have to ask my roommate permission to use his laptop then plug it in and then i can delete the files. I go through a huge amount a files often so having to stop is irritating and the worst thing is that it worked fine in the beginning but not anymore. Otherwise its great it is small lightweight and has a pleasant blue color but honestly i can’t determine whats the difference between the blue one and the black one the black says pro but they have identical specs i just chose blue because it was a few bucks cheaper. Also i got this to start moving my 8tb of data from google drive to this thing because my drive account got restricted which is fine it a perk from when i was a student but that ended almost 5 yrs ago so it was just a matter of time but back to the point if you move like 1TB of data or keep it plugged in for like an hour the unit will heat up and get pretty hot. With the exception of having to delete files from a laptop i really really like this but i honestly should have gotten a bigger one for my needs. Also make sure you do your research i paid like $350 from best buy but in 2 days i found the same item for 50% cheaper. So good luck!

Easy to set up and use for Macbook. Haven't run into any problems so far. It gets a little warm when transferring data, but that is probably to be expected. Speeds seem great!

I’ve been using the Crucial X10 4TB USB-C SSD as my main portable storage drive for all my big projects and backups, and it’s been nothing short of impressive. Transfer speeds are consistently fast and snappy, letting me move huge folders of video, photos, and work files without sitting around waiting. When I connect it to my laptop, I feel like I’m getting near internal drive performance, which makes editing or backing up on the go feel smooth and reliable. Best Buy The compact size and sleek blue design make it easy to carry around in a bag or pocket, and I’ve never worried about it taking up space or adding bulk. The 4TB capacity is a game changer for me because I can keep mountains of media and documents all in one place without constantly deleting things. Best Buy I’ll be honest, it can warm up during bigger transfers, but I haven’t found that to affect performance or reliability in daily use. Even after hours of backing up large drives, it still works exactly how I need it to. For the price and performance, this has become one of my favorite external SSDs and it’s been rock solid for backups, editing, and all my storage needs. Best Buy Rating 4.7 out of 5

I’m a camera operator working in commercial production, often shooting with ARRI cameras in ARRIRAW and high-bitrate 4K ProRes. The Crucial X10 4TB SSD has quickly become one of my go-to drives for offloading and backup on set and in post. It’s ridiculously fast — dumping ARRIRAW or ProRes footage from Codex, Atomos, or Blackmagic recorders in real time without a hitch. Playback straight off the drive is smooth and instant, even with heavy 4K sequences. It’s compact, lightweight, and perfect for production work where you’re constantly moving between sets. The build feels solid, but I’d still recommend storing it in a small padded case — like a Pelican SD card wallet — just to protect it from knocks in a gear bag. After months of heavy use on agency and commercial shoots, I’ve had zero issues with speed drops, data loss, or connection hiccups. It keeps up with demanding ARRI workflows, checksum transfers, and same-day client deliveries. Bottom line: blazing fast, rock-solid, and small enough to live in your pocket or DIT kit. Easily one of the most reliable SSDs I’ve used in 15 years behind the camera.

super amazing for editing 4k gaming footage. Works for our macbook air and Macbook pro and is a super solid option for those who dont want to fill their local storage with their footage keeping the editing apps running silky smooth.

I love it, I can use it with my Mac and Pc. It’s small enough to carry around and the best part is the speed.

I love these little SSDs. Incredibly small, yet absolutely huge inside! I use these to back up a few mothballed hard drives. The hard drives were huge for their time, but not anymore. 4TB holds a lot of data. I like the blazing fast read/write speed. Plug and play simple. With some drive manufacturers being out or nearly out of current year production, nows the time to buy. All memory is going way up. Another brand of external SSD has doubled in the last year. So i make it a point to check back to see when the Crucial X9 or X10 are on sale.

Good device, it’s fast enough for what I need. Use it for full backups and it does it just fine. It is a small drive so be aware, fits in the palm of your hand.

Connected to my MacBook Pro Laptop. It's impressive, about 87% as fast as the MacBook Pro. That may sound strange. It is very, very close to identical to the laptop performance. A lot faster than my previous laptop. You can't extend internal storage in your Mac. If you buy a MacBook Pro Laptop, the internal expansion to 4TB is very expensive. This helps all the way around. It has a lot of storage, is about as fast as the internal drive, and is way less expensive.

This is my second 4TB Crucial - to serve as a Time Machine backup - to my partitioned 4 TB Crucial work drive. I moved my 1 TB Crucial to my wife’s computer to replace a 500 GB spinning drive that served as her Time Machine backup. All 3 SSDs are fast and reliable and work well on the Mac O/S.
