I started watching this show in the second season, and found it really funny and sweet, with a great cast (Constance Wu totally steals the show!), so I bought this first season (on sale) to get introduced to the show. Pretty strong first season, quite a few funny moments that made me LOL and I totally relate to some of the situations. This show only seems to be getting better with the second season, so looking forward to buying the next season! I am encouraged that there is a mainstream Asian American comedy that can smartly use topical cultural humor in a genuinely funny and heartwarming way (if not being occasionally cheesy, but hey, it's a sitcom). Enjoyable and funny overall. Here's hoping Hollywood gets the message that audiences like smartly written, diverse offerings on TV like this, where diversity doesn't just mean colorblind casting, but culture is used as an integral part of enhancing the story and keeping it grounded (also good examples: Blackish, Jane the Virgin).

Being Chinese, I enjoy the Chinese - American family 1990s comedy sitcom. The last Chinese ethnic television program starring Margret Cho was cancelled after the first season. Hip Hop Eddie Huang and his brothers adjust to Orlando, dad operates a steakhouse, and mom micro-manage Chinese customs and traditions in suburbia. Very funny weekly episodes.

Doesnt matter if you aren't chinese, the comedy is spot on for the immigrant experience with family and especially Mom's drive to succeed and have her children advance in the Public Schools. Laugh out Load to the interactions of business and personal situations this family runs into. The kids and grandmother are priceless.
