So far so good. I’ve only used this to grate mozzarella cheese. As others have said, the softer the cheese/food, the more likely little pieces will get stuck in the crevice between the shredder and the holster. See pics. The cheese that gets stuck comes out in narrow strips as opposed to grated. It’s still cheese that I will definitely eat, so I don’t care how it looks, lol. It can be a bit time consuming trying to retrieve the pieces though. You won’t be able to continue shredding without removing the pieces. I still recommend this attachment as it saves so much time grating! I would rather use this than use a traditional grater which is challenging for my wrist. Harder cheeses and veggies should grate well with this unit. I have yet to try anything other than mozzarella, but I’m sure it’ll be fine!

I would 100% recommend for anyone who wants to bake more. Having this has saved me so much time and actually encouraged me to back more because i know how much easier it is to whip something up without having to stir manually!!

My kitchenaid attachment worked great on my red, green, and yellow peppers. Can't wait to try it on cheese.

This machine is heavy duty. Kneads bread really well and does any baking job well.

It does its job, but I don’t like how the cheese looks when it’s done being shredded. My cheese looks more like crumbles than shredded cheese.

Nice attachment for the kitchen aid mixer. The build quality is good. The number of accessories is ok.

My wife has been buying large bags of shredded cheese from the big box stores for years. I grew up with quality block cheese that you shred at home, but my wife was never the fan of having to shred the cheese ourselves. I was at Best Buy and decided to go out on a limb and buy this without first talking with my wife. When I brought it home she was not super happy, but I told her she will be after we start using the product. We bought some quality block cheese, which is much cheaper than the shredded product, and used the shredder. We used this freshly shredded cheese on some burritos and later on some chili dogs and my wife couldn't believe how much better it tasted. I am so thankful for this product. It makes shredding cheese a cinch. The feeder insert doesn't quite go all the way down, so you are usually left with a very thin piece of flat cheese when you are done, so you get a quick snack before you assemble the food. I recommend using the mid-speed as the high speed seems to provide a little too much power and the cheese gets a little melty. The low speed takes forever.

This little gadget attaches to my KitchenAid mixer to slice and dice a number of food items. I like the beautiful cucumber slices. I found the thin potato slices make delicious potato chips when cooked in the deep fryer. It is probably the best of the KitchenAid attachments. It attaches easily and clean up is a breeze. It comes with several blades for different prepping of veggies.

Bought this for my wife and I, who are both avid cooks - and since we got it out of the package we don't go more than a day or two without using it. I wish I had two of them so I could go more than 24 hours without washing it, which is NOT a complaint in any way. It's incredibly easy to use and makes many dishes a breeze, which is why we use ours so often. Of late, we have been using the shredder to grate fresh cheese for everything you could possibly put cheese on. This thing turns an exhausting manual activity into a couple of minutes of actual fun and churns out phenomenal shredded cheese. It's easy to attach to the mixer, it's super easy to use, and it's dishwasher safe - though most of the time ours gets hand-washed because we're eager to use it again. Great purchase.

If you're shredding or slicing a large amount of cheese or vegetables, this is a life saver. It handles hard cheeses easily. Soft cheeses like mozzarella need to be frozen slightly before shredding, but it makes pizza night much more convenient. I've used the slicing blade for zucchini and carrot chips and have shredded potatoes for hashbrowns. Clean up is super easy and everything goes back into the box for easy storage. This is much more convenient than dragging out my food processor.

I have yet to run into a KitchenAid product that isn't good. This set has very good quality plastic and metal pieces. It is easy to clean, easy to use, easy to disassemble, and fantastic for speed of grating.

A great slicer and shredder, me and my wife love making salads and this is a great addition with the Kitchen Aid Pro 5 Lift Stand Mixer I purchased for her birthday. From slicing cucumbers, radishes and carrots to shredding cheese... the salads taste better with freshly sliced veggies, the mac and cheese is delectable with freshly shredded cheese and tacos just to die for with shredded lettuce, cheese and onions. It's nice just to get whole veggies and cheese and slice and shred at home besides purchasing pre-sliced and shredded food.

Easy to connect to kitchen aid. Shreds quickly with a couple drawbacks. 1. Kitchen aids are heavy. Have to get it out of cabinet every time to shred cheese. 2. It clogs if doing a lot at a time. Have to use a utensil to scrap it out to continue 3. Have to precut blocks of cheese so they fit in the chute

used to slice cucumber. grate carrot. Works amazing.... This is a must buy if you do not have Food Processor or place to keep it out always. I have Cusinart Mixer and its fix it as well.

I hate shredding cheese and vegetables. My wife got a OLD salad master shredder from her mother that's missing the block to push items down toward the shredder. It's clunky and makes more of a mess and takes more time than simply using a simple box shredder. But I've been forced to use it because it came from her mother ;-) I finally got this--it was sooo much easier EXCEPT I have to cut things down into small pieces to feed them through the tube (cabbage for example). I thought this shredder would cut my prep time and it did-- but by only a fraction. But the cleanup is so much easier than the old salad master or the box shredder PLUS i don't have to worry about my fingers! This thing would be perfect if the tube were just a little bit larger.
