For typical users who mostly browse the Internet, use some lighter applications, and do not need a ton of storage, I would recommend this over any other laptop in this price range. This is a great basic laptop that does not compromise on performance. It has a good processor, fast storage, and a decent amount of RAM. Processor - The i3 processor is the absolute minimum that I recommend. It has plenty of power, but is not geared toward gaming or heavy video editing. If that is your intention, this is NOT the machine for you. It has plenty of power to open and run applications without a hitch. Storage - The NVMe storage coupled with a good processor make this machine very snappy. Boot times are extremely fast. From a cold boot, I am inside of the Operating System and everything is loaded in under 8 seconds. I am running Linux, so your mileage may vary a little bit, but you will still be happy with the results. Running a quick speed test, I am getting about 3.3 GB/sec read speed. Again, this is more than plenty for typical use. This is multitudes faster than a typical mechanical drive which are still in some higher end laptops. The storage is on the lower side at 256 GB, so if you plan on storing a ton of media (videos) on this device, I'd look at another laptop. Not much can be said about the RAM. It comes with 8GB, which is the minimum amount that I recommend. It comes with 1 DDR4-2666 module that could be upgraded to 2 modules for a slight performance boost, but should not be necessary for the majority of people. Since, my primary use for this laptop will be coding, I will upgrade to 16GB or 32GB. All in all - If you're not gaming or video editing, this is a great machine. If curious what I use this laptop for: - Coding - Web browsing - School work when I am away from a desktop Reasons for lacking 1 star: Screen and no backlit keys I didn't expect a great screen at this point. It is fine with a 1920x1080 resolution. That is still the standard. The issue is with the backlight bleed that was immediate upon turning the computer on for the first time. On my device, the are 2 hotspots at the top of the screen where you can see the white coming through. My activity bar is at the top once loaded in the Operating System, so it is not a huge deal. I do believe that, even for this price point, backlit keys could have been implemented. I never know how much I miss them until I have to work in the dark with a laptop that doesn't have them. It's not a deal breaker, and I am still happy with my purchase. All in all, this is a competent laptop that will be able to satisfy the majority of people. WIth a decent processor paired with the NVMe drive, it will also outperform many of the $1000+ computers.

Great laptop for everyday use. It’s good for school, work and leisure home use. But the fan sound is something you can hear clearly. Could have used an Xe graphics.

I've been a MAC user for 10+ years but now I am a fan of HP. This system was so easy to set up. Switching to Windows was a short learning curve and sometimes challenging to find things but overall this laptop has excellent functionality. What I love: Super fast Great display Slim and lightweight Easy set up Works well with new keyboard, mouse and light for conference calls Lots of memory/storage I use this for my business and personal accounts. It has all the features I need. I have only wonderful things to say about this laptop. I'm still learning where everything is but I am beyond happy. An excellent choice and I have had a great experience and wonderful performance with this HP.

Horrible this labtop freezes while browsing website, while on zoom meeting and even in the middle of just editing word doc I have taken it to geek squad and no fix for it I believe it’s a manufacturer defect it’s been that way since I about it a few months ago unfortunately I had been traveling and didn’t have time to return it so now I’m just stuck with none working labtop even for basic things I wish the bestbuy salesperson was honest with me about the product quality as I literally said I need a labtop to use for lots of zoom meetings and emails probably will never step into a bestbuy again

Got this for my son for college and i would give it 5 stars if the outlet plug would fit into a 110 volt (common) outlet. Instead it looks like one of those European plugs in which now j have to search for an adapter t to charge it up

I was so nervous to buy a laptop online as a Christmas gift to my father, but I’m so happy I did! This laptop is super sleek, fast, & great quality. He absolutely loves it!

Serious problem with dark gray letters/numbers on a light gray keyboard! No contrast, so very hard to discern. Also, Geek Squad guy who helped me pick out this laptop told me I could upgrade the windows for free since I have a family subscription, but microsoft says it will cost me $100.

Nice laptop. Works great for what I need it for- photo storage and internet browsing. Can also play some games on it. I like the fingerprint security option. Battery life is decent

this computer is great it is very fast and I can work several tasks at the same time

Just got it the other day so haven’t done much on it besides update and stuff but so far so good hopefully it stays that way

Did not have it 90 days before my screen had all lines on the right hand side. Best Biy said It was over 60 days nothing they could do called HP they said it was damaged and not under warranty the year warranty is only for hardware. I was in a zoom meeting and all of a sudden these lines showed up on my screen. I believe it overheated.

Bought for $429, excellent price. 1. The i3 11th Generation is very quick, no problems the way I use a computer. 2. 8 GB RAM is plenty of RAM for what I do. 3. Hard Drive space of 250 SSD is good. I am one of those that like Regular Hard Drives just as well, yet don't need the space, and these start a bit faster, better for Windows 10. 4. The Display is FHD, 1080, and unlike AMD video Graphics is very crisp. AMD is certainly better for business, or Word Processing. This runs Movies while Streaming very well. 5. Sound is good. Have seen is cut out for a second or so, yet comes back fine. 6. Appearance of the Laptop is excellent, and Keyboard I find nice for typing. 7. A fine number of ports, two regular USB, Ethernet, HDMI, USB Type C, Memory Card. 8. The design is, as all modern laptops, there is no easy way to change the RAM, Hard Drive, and Battery, no DVD. I am a bit old-fashioned. The design is nice the way I and most people are going to use this computer. Complaint: As most reviewers, the FAN is a bit loud on Restart, it seems to quiet down, and was fine streaming, "Space Cowboys." That movie fits me. A older person with a BS in Computer Information Systems, and an ex-HP Rep, helping people buy computers and Printers in Best Buy, and other stores I cannot name in this review.

I’m not happy with it it’s messing up the screen just turned red out of no where and it’s running slow

Have had HP laptops in the past and this one is the best yet, fast, reliable and easy to use. That combined with my total tech membership is outstanding. Best purchase I ever made. Best Buy is a great company and they really do care and do everything in their power to solve any and all problems I incur, which is few and far between and I call the Geek Squad and they are the best technicians ever. I highly recommend this product and company.

Bought this for my father. He loves it! Very fast and lightweight.

For $329 it is everything I wanted out of a laptop as I am more of a desktop person. The 15" screen is fine and the monitor is very sharp. The computer executes the commands quickly. I don't need the latest and greatest high price laptop that is worth a 25% of its value in 3 years.

This is by far the best computer I’ve owned. I’m a small business owner and I really need a computer with speed and a lot of storage. This is the one. It’s extremely fast, great storage capacity, crystal clear resolution, and a great keyboard layout. I love it!

This PC has only two regular USB ports, and one didn't work. BB replaced it with a new PC of the same type, which works great. For an entry-level machine, this one is capable; fast and even has a touch screen - really good value! There is no CD/DVD drive as the machine is quite thin. Realistically, it doesn't need one anyway as most everything you will ever need can be downloaded anyway. It has the "Home" version of Windows 10 instead of the Pro version, which is disappointing. You will also have to get it out of Windows-S mode if you want to install any applications not on the MS Store. On the plus side, it is capable of running Windows 11 when that OS is released. Overall, a very good value for the money.
