This was actually surprisingly good. The battle system is interesting and stays interesting even into the late game. Worth taking a look.

I give this game a qualified recommendation for anyone looking for a RPG that isn't just the latest rehash of the old JRPG formula from the 8 bit and 16 bit era. The setting is based on southern Asia, which is a refreshing change from the usual fare of pseudo medieval Europe or warring states era Japan (or the FF style techno-futurist amalgam of both). Movement through the world involves significant platforming, which can be challenging but not impossible to master. There's voice acting, which is... serviceable, albeit early 90's OVA dubbing tier in most cases. Combat uses a variation of the traditional FF style 'each group lines up on opposite sides of screen', but instead of selecting through menus, each of your characters' attacks are mapped to one of the four face buttons, modified by joystick input, and it's possible to have multi-character combos for certain enemies. When the enemy attacks, you can block their attacks, and it's timing dependent, which overall makes this more like an action game. The downsides I've seen in my playtime is that the game is not bug-free - there have been occasional glitches with the music, along with combat starting near a ledge where either you or the enemies fall off and the combat breaks (you don't die as there's no fall damage in this game, unless it's a bottomless pit). I have had one instance where the game froze during combat, and I had to force close the game from the home screen to resume. Thankfully the game has an overabundance of save points, so you shouldn't lose your progress if you use them regularly. Unfortunately these bugs won't ever be fixed, nor additional content added to the game, as the studio that created it has dissolved due to internal disputes too long to recap here, and the publisher doesn't have the rights to modify the code themselves. You will also need to download a 2.2Gb update patch the first time you play the cartridge version, so keep that in mind.

I am about 5 hours in and this my impression in that time stamp. The animation and art is great. The combat is fun and it keeps you engage as you affect how you attack and defend. There is high/low mixups and there are command grabs to tech out of. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that there is no training room to explore combos and all the mess in the development of this game.

This is a really good game. Good narrative, getting schooled by doing things you THINK are right, then the game teaches you otherwise. It has a really good story, and nice music, but the battle system, although fun, can get on your nerves when you feel you messed up a button press. Gotta LOVE getting it all right, however, and this art is just some of the BEST kind of art for games. I can safely recommend it to anyone that loves Action/turn-based RPGs.

The fights are really cool, constantly making you evaluate the moves of four characters at once. They can be hard but not unfair. The concept of the story is really cool, but I'm not a huge fan of the platforming. It's a little slow, but the story and gameplay make up for it!

Great 2d graphics, gameplay & design. Has a pretty cool turn based and action party style combat. Definitely going to go through the different stages more than once. There are certain items you get later in the game that allows you to break open different passages. Got it for a really good deal. HIghly recommend it!

Its a very interesting combination of a metroidvania, jrpg, and fighting game. Loads of personality. Ironically, I wish it were a bit shorter, as it starts to wear out it's welcome by the end.

This game is superb gameplay and artstyle. This is the last game from the studio. Better get it before it's out of print.

This is such a fun game. I am so happy to see a physical release on the Switch. It is sad the IP is going to die as the company had issues but they put out fixes on everything I found when it first came out on digital. I defeated it on my Xbox One and it will be great to play it on the go.

Beautiful hand draw art, fun combat system that is a mix of turn based with real time elements as maintaining combos with all of your team so the enemy doesn’t have a chance to attack. Love this game.

Great hidden RPG game. It has a combination 2D platform & RPG forms. The game company 505 has filed bankruptcy & its physical price release will go up for sure in short time.

Fun RPG. Reminded me of playing games like Final Fight and Double Dragon for all of you 80’s and 90’s gamers. Tamer than many other fighting quest games.
