A: Yes it does twist. It is very tight when you first get it. You can lefty-loosy or righty-tighty it. Loose means the chair will tilt backwards easier. If you tighten it all the way it will be next to impossible to tilt backwards. If you make it too loose you could tip back too easily, BUT you have to crank and crank it to get it to be too loose. So cranky away, test it, then crank again until you like it.
Q: Does this chair adjust low enough for someone who is 5'6" to comfortably use?
A: It's a little difficult to answer that question. I'm 5'2" and when I'm sitting at the top level I can still reach the floor with my feet. when I measure from the top of the seat to the floor it's 21 and 1/2". I hope that helps

Mesh office chair
I love my new chair, it’s comfy and side bars adjust easily. Assembly is required, but it’s simple to do. The mesh backing is supportive!
