I've always loved racing games, so adding a wheel seemed like a no brainer. Setup was straight forward. There are 3 different cords you need to deal with: Power, pedals-to-wheel and wheel-to-console. The annoying part of the cables is keeping them out of the way. I may need to take some time to do some cable management. The wheel is easy to move around when you aren't using it, though again the cables can get in the way. I do find that the pedals slice on hardwood, so I have to keep them against the way, otherwise they slide around and it's really annoying. I have it in a good place now, but that's something to keep in mind that you need a good non-slip surface for the pedals. The design is great. I like the carbon look and the red accents. The ergonomics are good. I have it attached to my desk and the height works well. It feels like it had high build quality. The paddle shifters feel solid and like they will task. I like the controller on the wheel, but I prefer the PS5 controller if I'm going to be using the controller for a while. I haven't found a way to look around using the wheel, so that's a minus, but maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. I don't really use the display on the wheel, but if I turned off the speed, etc on the screen to make it more realistic, I'd use that display. I ended up turning the feedback down because it was on 100% in Motorfest and it was way to high and didn't feel realistic. I've used the wheel on the Crew Motorfest and Forza. The wheel performs well in both games. I like the customization options better in Motorfest, but that might just be because I'm more familiar with Motorfest since I play it more often. I'm not 100% confident with my skills yet, so if I'm doing a race, I'll still use the controller, but if I'm just driving around, I'll use the wheel. FYI, I don't think you can use the clutch pedal unless you get a separate stick shift add-on Conclusion This wheel/pedal makes the game more fun for sure. I would definitely recommend it.

Coming in at a diameter of 11 inches, with a height of 11 inches, the racing wheel doesn’t occupy a lot of space and provides a compact driving experience. Weighing in at about 12.6 pounds, the product is super light and portable. Built with synthetic perforated faux leather, and high quality plastic, the wheel provides a very pleasant tactile feel that helps enhance the racing experience. The carbon imitated finish makes the wheel feel similar in terms of looks to authentic GT3 car wheels. On top of this, the shifter paddles on the back of the wheel are constructed with plastic married with magnetic precision technology that helps provide accurate and responsive shifts, minimizing the overall input delay. Overall, the strong build materials that have been used make the wheel durable for continuous long term usage. As for the technical aspects, the versatile Multi Functional Display on the wheel is a huge aid to access crucial information such as engine RPM (helps shift gears), caution flags, and the pit limiter. Moreover, the MODE button helps shift between the gaming mediums, which include Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and PC. The design is symmetrical providing enough buttons and button maps to make the racing experience authentic and customizable without going overboard. The organization of the buttons is a huge positive for the wheel, as every button is within a finger’s reach, reducing distractions when engaged in wheel to wheel battle. The Thrustmaster 248R is an A-grade performer in any sort of racing game. After extensive testing and analysis in the F1 23 game, the Thrustmaster 248R continues to impress. The wheel provides a very strong force feedback increasing the notch of difficulty for avid sim racers. The setup works perfectly in long distance running, without any sort of degradation in input response. Additionally, the wheel doesn’t lose its force feedback after long distance running, nor does it heat up unnecessarily. While still a luminary choice for hardcore simulator drivers, the wheel is also great for beginners due to the user-friendly setup, and due to its complete bundle (wheels and pedals). The quality of pedals is the best part of the whole package. Possessing a built in brake mod, the process of applying the brakes is a lot more immersive and requires a considerable amount of force. While this may aid in quick turns, heavy braking zones do prove to be a challenge, especially if you are a beginner. On the other hand, the spring base resistance provided by the brake pedal makes the exercise of trail braking a lot easier. Additionally, the 3 way pedal system consisting of the accelerator, clutch, and brake makes the whole package compatible with a grand variety of games including Assetto Corsa, iRacing, Gran Turismo, and the F1 games. Additionally, there is a larger angle of input for the accelerator to overcome in order to be considered “flat”. Hence, the process of lifting and coasting itself provides enough reduction in speed to attack high speed corners. All in all, the Thrustmaster 248R is an excellent pick as it works as a great wheel for beginners and experienced drivers alike.

I do a bit of racing for fun in real life, mostly HPD events at the local race track, but that’s not open year-around due to weather conditions like snow :-) So I have to continue to have some less expensive racing fun indoors during the winter months. To that end, about a week ago I received the Thrustmaster - T248R Racing Wheel and Magnetic Pedals Playstation Edition that also works with Windows PCs. It is a pretty good looking, sporty wheel, on the smaller side at 11”, but comfortable, well built with good quality surfaces. The setup is very simple. The pedals come with a pre-attached cable that needs to be plugged in to the bottom/back of the starring wheel via a proprietary RJ-11/phone like cable that has the plastic locking tab offset to one side, so not to be confused with a phone cable. There is an external power brick with a banana plug that also needs to be plugged into the back of the wheel. Last but not least, there is the signal USB-A to USB-C cable that connects to your PC or PlayStation 4 or 5. There is decent cable routing under the wheel and a built-in velcro strap to help secure all 3 cables to the underside of the wheel. There is an extra connector that looks like the older PS/2 style connector, probably to be used with an add-on manual stick-shift (not included with the setup I got). The wheel has the standard PlayStation controller-like buttons and directional arrows, in addition to quite a few other buttons that can be customized depending on what game you’re playing. The paddle shifters are magnetic, so they’ll work reliably and quickly every time, though I wish they were a bit larger. There is a small LCD display built-in at top center of the wheel which can show things like speed, rpm, lap number, etc and 4 LEDs around the LCD display that can also provide additional information, depending on what game you’re playing. All buttons are easily within the reach of your fingers on both sides, and tons of customizations are available. The force feedback is pretty smooth and not excessively loud or violent since it is one step up from most basic setups. It is a hybrid design that utilizes both gears and a belt system. I mostly play the Microsoft Forza Motorsport and Horizon series on my PC and the legendary Gran Turismo series on my PS5, both work well with this wheel. The pedals are a bit too “vertical” for my taste, and the brake pedal is very hard to press, but it comes with an interchangeable spring and 4 levels of resistance. In my opinion, some of the things that Thrustmaster could improve in future releases of this wheel are: longer cable from pedals to wheel, to allow for better cable routing out of the way. Larger paddle shifters, it would be nice if they were aluminum instead of plastic. More detailed documentation on all the extra buttons and what they do. My biggest complaint is the pedals base is not grippy enough on smooth surfaces and lacks spikey feet option for carpeted floors, so you either have to mount the pedals on the rails of a racing chair setup or prop them against a wall with some 2x4’s like I had to do for the time being. Other than that, this is a well built, well performing Racing Wheel much better than an entry-level, and reasonably priced, especially if you get it when it’s on-sale, so pick one up - it will make a huge difference in your sim-driving experience.

The Thrustmaster T248R is a solid choice for a decently priced sim wheel for those wanting to get into sim racing. It comes with an 11 inch wheel wrapped in perforated leather giving it a more premium feel in comparison to plastic wheels. It has a nice sleek design with many formatable buttons which include the magnetic paddle shifters, alongside a small display at the top. The pedal set included with the wheel is the T3PM feature H.E.A.R.T magnetic sensors without any potentiometers. Out of the box the brake takes quite a bit of force to fully press down but that can be adjusted with the included set of brake springs. The pedal base is pretty sturdy but you may need to have something behind them so they don't slide away. Setuping the wheel is fairly simple, simply needing to screw down a clamp, With a usb-c to usb-a to connect with whatever device you choose. The software for the wheel is also very simple to use and install allowing you to have more control over your wheel. It works great with pc games such as Assetto Corsa and Forza Horizon 5. The Thrustmaster T248R is a good pickup for anyone looking for a well priced all around sim wheel, with a premium feel and ease of use.

I was super excited to try the new Thrustmaster T248R. Ive been playing racing games with a controller for years and I’ve always wanted to know what it felt like to use racing wheel. I love to play racing games and one of my favorite games is Forza Horizon 5. Since I am new to the racing wheel world, I had no idea what it entailed. I had no prior knowledge or experience with casual or sim based racing with a racing wheel, so I thought the Thrustmaster T248R would be a good starting point for me. Setup Setting up the T248R was a bit of a chore for me. After unboxing all the accessories and the wheel and pedals, I didn't know how to install the wheel on my desk. The included instructions didn’t explain how to install, so I went to Thrusmaster’s website and watched several how-to videos. This helped tremendously, as I was getting frustrated with the included instructions. I didn’t notice proper instalation instructions on the provided document. Cable management was also a bit of a nuisance. If you are wanting a clean and minimal setup, you will need to take some time to hide the cables and look out for cable length. The cable that connects to the pedals isnt very long. I had to account for this. Also, if you plan on installing the pedals on carpet, there is no carpet stops at the bottom of the pedals. This may cause movement and repositioning the pedals while driving. Installing the Thrustmaster software in the Microsoft store was simple and took almost no time. There are a host of features and options within the software that I’ve yet to explore, but looking forward to over time. How does it perform I was pleasantly surprised how accurate it felt driving with the racing wheel. It does take a learning curve, and Ive yet to fully master after a few weeks of driving. Im playing racing games primarily on my gaming PC, so it took me awhile to learn which buttons to select on the wheel. The wheel feels great with each turn and the included LCD screen is an added bonus. I find myself in awe at the wheel accuracy versus using a controller. The pedals are firm and rigid with good response time when pressing the pedals. It did take me awhile to used to the starting position of the pedals. Conclusion Since this was my first experience with using a racing wheel, I think the Thrustmaster T248R is the perfect starter racing wheel for casual racers like myself. Aside from the lack of carpet stops, my overall experience was mostly positive and fun. If you own a Playstation or PC, this one's is worth taking a look at.

Amazing wheel and pedals racing set. It came with all you need to have it desk mounted. They include the wheel, which has a nice LCD screen and LED indicator lights (more on this later), a desk mount (this is my only con here, the mounting clamp is made of plastic and feels cheap and it only has one tensioning point, a long metal screw, that has again, a plastic lever), which was kind of finicky to have setup and I was scared to give it all to make it seat properly on my desk, I felt it was going to break at one point. I rather prefer regular metal clamps, but it is what it is. Once clamped on my desk you connect the wheel base with the pedals set (they nicely include 3, gas, break and clutch), then the USB cable to your PC (my case) or your PlayStation (compatible) and then on the PC you download their windows app to install its configuration software (and firmware updates). The pedals feel great and the break one has a medium stiffness spring, which you can replace with a black one, which is stiffer, depending on your liking, this is great! The wheel itself feels great and responsive to what the car and road is telling you on racing games, this a hybrid system (belt and gear). I like the LCD screen, its really useful and not a gimmick. It can show speed, RPM, gear shifts etc. The LEDs can indicate when its time to upshift, pit stops etc. and you can configure those. The paddle shifters are metal and feel very click and responsive (they are loud though). My only cons are the desk clamp mounting system and the wheel itself (or the back) have lots of plastic, making it feel cheaper, I would prefer more metal all around, but its a very nice starter kit for anyone getting into the racing hobby!

so I've owned the Thrustmaster T248R for about a week now and I have mixed feelings about it. I was quite excited to open it up and get it set up because one of my favorite games to play on the PS5 is Gran Turismo 7 and I could not wait to play the game with this wheel. My headaches started started with the set up. The steering has its own "power brick" that needs to be plugged in when in use. Not a huge deal BUT.. the cable on it is not very long. I would say like about 6 feet. You'll need to set it up very close to an outlet or get a long extension cable. This made setup a little cumbersome for me because the cable was not long enough to get it to reach across the table I was going to set it up on. The pedal also has a cable that resembles an old phone cable. Think network cable but smaller. The plug has a thin piece of plastic that holds the cable into place. again.. shouldn't be a huge deal but I feel like they are prone to breaking and the cable looks like it is non replaceable. So you have to be extra careful when plugging and removing it. So when you finally get it set up, you end up with a bunch of cables sticking out of the back of it. One that powers the wheel, one that connects the pedals to the wheel, and one that connects the wheel to your playstation or PC. All different cables. The power cable is propietary. I wish they could have don't USB C as well with that. You end up with all these cables and you'll have to do some cable management because if not you end up with cables getting in the way of your feet and pedals. Petty complaints but I just wish it was packaged and designed better. maybe there is a reason each cable is designed the way it is, but I wish it was a little more simplified. Now as far as the gameplay experience, it was fun! Unfortunately there isn't any haptics or force feedback in the steering wheel. I thought it would have some but it does not. The wheel itself feels quite responsive and has a very good turning radius. The pedals take a good amount of force to use. Which makes the driving experience feel more realistic. The pedalboard stays nice and secure on hard floors. Should be just as good on carpets. Playing Gran Turismo 7 with this setup was fun ( when it worked) more on that later. But it makes the game even more fun. I actually plan on letting my niece and nephew use the setup to get some practice in for driving lol. I am convinced that playing Gran Turismo with a good racing wheel and pedals makes for a good driving simulation for getting practice in for real world driving. All headaches aside, I really enjoy the wheel and I am happy to have it. If you plan on getting this, keep in mind that you need a lot of space to set it up. And I recommend that you get some type of "cockpit" to have it set up to permanently. I did not plan on having one at first, but am now currently shopping for one. Now back to the couple of issues I had while starting up this wheel. For some reason.,. my playstation 5 randomly shut down when I first started using this wheel. I have no idea why. It could be a coincidence but when I started up a race on gran turismo 7 with this plugged in, it literally just shut itself off. I googled online if there is any known issues, but couldn't find much information. after resetting my ps5 and running the restore prompt everything was back up and running properly. The only other thing I have to warn you all about is to read the instructions about the buttons, I managed to throw my ps5 into rest mode once or twice also by accidentally pressing the wrong buttons. All in All.. I think the wheel is fun and very high quality. If you've never owned something like this before be prepared to spend some time setting this up and invest in other accessories for it. The wheel and pedals is just a part of the expense. As far as compatibility, I can confirm it works for gran turismo 7.

The Thrustmaster T248R is a great entry level wheel and pedal for those looking to get in to the racing sim market. With different manufactures out there producing a variety of different set ups it can sometimes be difficult to determine which is the right fit for you. Hopefully this will help answer some questions. For review purposes this was tested on a PC against Assetto Corsa and Need for speed heat. Out of the box you get everything you need to get you started including the racing wheel, 3 pedal base and all necessary wires. This particular model also comes with an additional spring for you to be able to change brake pedal pressure. There are three settings you can set up for in the way of firmness, but please note this is only for the brake pedal. One thing to note is yes this can be played and mounted without a racing sim cockpit, however for best results this particular module is meant to be used with one. Keep in mind that their are other manufactures out there that create a base pedal set up that allows for cockpit mounting or floor mounting all via a friction style base, this is not that set up. The center LCD display screen at the top of the 12'oclock position was a really cool feature to see on there. Depending on the game you play that screen can be used for different displays such as RPM, rev limit, etc. Corsa gave me full function and the ability to map it how i wanted where as more laid back games like Need for Speed Heat gave me no ability to set it up. Speaking of set up, Thrustmaster in my opinion has never been user friendly in the way of mapping buttons and more importantly firmware updates. What i mean in particular is other models out there can do everything through a provided app, and yes, while Thrustmaster does provide a app that allows for button mapping and supposed "Firmware Updates" that was not the case for me as of the time of writing this review. I own 2 other Thrustmasters so i already know the procedure, but this particular model required me to download the Firmware off of Thrustmasters main site then i had to install it through the app. I tried to bypass the app and nope, the Firmware would not load properly and road force feeback when playing Asseto Corsa was basically non-existant. Just something to keep in mind in case your not exactly tech savvy. Now moving on to functionality when gaming, the steering wheel and pedal does a very good job at offering pretty realistic feedback. Even when playing a simple game like Need for Speed Heat, when taking a turn at a high rate of speed you can feel the G-Force adding more resistance to the steering wheel making it tougher to control around the bend. When apexing your turns and running over the curb ever so slightly the wheel does a good job at mimicking that slight hop. Wheel jolt can then be felt adding slight instability in the steering wheel that you would expect to feel when racing on a real track. Pedal and steering wheel input is instantaneous, and while i didn't actually measure input speed it feels like 1ms or less. There was one experience i did notice on the T248R model that i had experienced on my other Thrustmaster models as well and that was random feedback drop outs. I would be racing in my game, didn't matter which one, and if i took a turn too hard and ended up in the dirt or grass, the force feedback would go crazy as you would expect it to in real life, and then randomly would just cut out and stop working for a few seconds. What's disappointing is my previous model did the same thing and so does this model. So i would race, slide off the track, wheel would give me the correct feedback based on my situation, then would get back on the track the steering wheel would have no resistance or feedback, then 20 secs later it would come back. This happens rarely, but when it does happen its very frustrating as it tends to take you out of the immersion of the game. Even more frustrating is this was a issue on previous models as well. Overall if your looking for something to get your foot in the door with that won't seriously break the bank then this is a set up for you. If you have kids or maybe you don't take care of things too well, then this is a set up for you. My previous models i have had my kids drop my wheel and spill liquids on them and they still keep working years on down the road. If you are not too good at setting up software, then you may want to look around as their are other brands that will give you a more user friendly experience and still provide the same quality feedback. Overall Thrustmaster builds good quality products that will probably out live all of us. My only gripe and reason for 4 stars is the very rare random cut outs.

I’ll admit it — I was **never** a racing-game kind of guy. I’ve always been more of a casual console player, and I never understood the hype around racing wheels. But after using the **Thrustmaster T248R Racing Wheel & Magnetic Pedals** on my **PlayStation 5** for a little while now, I totally get it. This thing is on a different level. The minute you sit down and start driving, it pulls you right into the action. The **force feedback** is no joke — you feel every bump, turn, slide, and bit of traction (or lack of traction, depending on how reckless you drive). It’s not like a controller where you just press buttons. You’re fighting the wheel, correcting your steering, and actually learning how to race. And when my **grandsons** come to visit? Game over. It’s like having a full-blown race tournament in the living room. We’re yelling, laughing, spinning out, bumping into walls, doing victory laps — you name it. It brings everybody together in a way I honestly wasn’t expecting. It’s become our new tradition when they come over, and they absolutely love it. The pedals are solid and responsive — the brake feels realistic, not mushy — and the adjustable resistance is a great touch. The wheel has multiple modes and displays different info right on the wheel screen, which is pretty cool once you get used to it. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m now hooked. I catch myself racing even when the grandkids aren’t around — and the more I play, the more addicting it gets. This is a pretty nice entry-level racing wheel. The hardware is solid - it feels immersive, responds well, and it's sturdy enough to handle intense sessions. The wheel feels nice to hold and use, the buttons are all arranged so you can easily press all of them, and the force feedback feels realistic. I'm a fan of the fact that Thrustmaster included an extra spring for the brake pedal and has set it up to allow you to switch between four possible firmness levels for it. It's also nice that the whole kit is designed for you to either use it standalone and clamped to a desk, or properly installed in an actual cockpit. I haven't had any issues with the clamp, either - it held the wheel to my desk without any issues, and didn't seem to loosen over the course of my play sessions. As far as connectivity goes, I haven't had any problems. It's overall been pretty plug-and-play. For instance, when I tried using this racing wheel with BeamNG.Drive, it just kind of immediately detected the wheel without any action on my part, and all I had to do to get started was map the buttons in the game's settings. It was like this for most games I tried - the exception was Need for Speed Most Wanted, which makes sense since it's a much older game. (I couldn't figure out how to get the wheel working with that game.) The wheel also works great on my PlayStation 5 - I've had no issues there either. It's honestly pretty user-friendly on the technical level. I think my biggest complaint about this racing wheel is that the pedals feel like they weren't really designed with standalone use in mind. The pedals themselves feel fantastic - I feel like I'm pressing real pedals from a real car. The problem is, I have to keep a foot firmly mounted on the base board and maintain pressure on it at all times, because if I don't the base board gets lifted up by the force of me hitting the brakes and gas. I was able to somewhat mitigate this by positioning the board so it was directly against the wall, but it's still something of an issue. I would have liked if there was an included solution in the box to prevent this from happening. Overall, I've really enjoyed using this racing wheel. I'd absolutely recommend it, I would just be aware of the issue with the pedals in case you're planning on using this hardware outside of an actual cockpit.
