Wise to go with Wyze

This device is awesome, the auto lock is what peaked my interest and the palm scanning to unlock is great as well. Great buy, easy to install, and setup with the Wyze app. Plan on getting the cameras and door bell in the future

Too much plastic and not reliable
Fraamus Posted
This is my third smartlock. I have used Kwikset and Yale. I was not prepared for how plasticky and cheap a BHMA 3 (the lowest rating for homes) would be compared to locks made by lockmakers. Everything about it is so lightweight. Even the locking pin that goes through the bolt is just a thin flat piece of metal instead of a half oval that fits securely so there is a lot of slop in the bolt mechanism. It just feels like a hammer could destroy it. Now onto the lock device function. My hand scan worked about 1 out of every 10 times i tried. My left a little more often than the right. When I tried to remove and add it it failed completely and Wyze advised I should return it. So basically I had an expensive cheaply made keypad lock. One of the reasons I got it (besides that I love Wyze devices and own 5) was that it claims the door opening sensor will prevent deadbolt autolock when the door is ajar. That didn't work either despite me calibrating it several times and following instructions to the T. It is also very slow to unlock compared to past locks. Yes it is pretty and musical but when it is 20 degrees outside I want it to just open and very quickly. It is about 4 seconds both ways. Also the palm recognition position is kind of awkward. Instead of the camera facing upward it faces outward. I really wanted to love this lock especially with all the positive reviews, but mine was half-baked even if it hadn't failed. There are BHMA 2 vein locks at this same price point that work with all voice assistants and Matter.

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your detailed feedback and experience with the Wyze Lock. We truly appreciate your loyalty to Wyze and your honest insights, as they help us improve our products and services. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially compared to other smart locks you’ve used.
Here’s a summary addressing your concerns:
Build Quality: Wyze Lock is designed to add smart features to your existing deadbolt, but we understand your concerns about the materials and BHMA 3 rating. Your feedback about the locking pin and overall feel is valuable, and we’ll share it with our product team for future improvements.
Fingerprint/Hand Scan Issues: We’re sorry the fingerprint recognition did not work reliably for you. This is not the experience we want for our users. If you haven’t already, you can find troubleshooting steps and support options in our FAQ & help center (https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us).
Door Position Sensor & Auto-Lock: The Wyze Lock is designed to prevent auto-locking when the door is ajar, but we regret that this feature did not function as expected despite your calibration efforts. If you’d like, our support team can assist further or help with a return or replacement if needed.
Unlock Speed & Usability: We understand the importance of quick access, especially in cold weather. Your comments about unlock speed and palm recognition positioning are noted and will be shared with our development team.
Smart Home Integration: Wyze Lock supports Wyze automations and Alexa/Google, but does not currently support Matter. We recognize that broader compatibility is important to many users.
If you’d like to explore other options, we also offer the Wyze Lock Bolt, which features a built-in keypad and fingerprint reader for fast local access, though it does not support remote access or voice assistants.
We’re here to help with any returns, replacements, or further troubleshooting. Please let us know how you’d like to proceed, and thank you again for your feedback and for being a valued Wyze customer.

Great deadbolt. Took a little time to set up properly, but went pretty smoothly. Reads right & left palm so can have two people open the lock.

This a quite the improvement over the other smart lock they have. Its pretty cool. It allows you to store multiple palm prints for you as well as others or give a pass code to some permanent or temporary. Highly recommend. Pretty easy to install

Works well with palm or put in code, either way. Doesn't lock when door is open like our August did. Much better device and feel secure.

My family loves this lock. I wish there was a way to lock it from the outside instead of just on the app. Other than that this is a great option.
