• You don't need to have an Amazon Alexa before buying the fire stick. The fire stick remote has a microphone and can listen to your voice command to perform a function similar to a separate Alexa device. I'm not sure what functionality they would have or if they work together. But you don't have to buy an Alexa device before buying the fire stick

• No you do not need Alexa. It has a built in Alexa for the remote.
