Apps are available too for other channels. Many are free to download but may cost extra for some programming. If you have the Amazon Prime app on your device, you do not need the Fire stick.

Also, Pluto TV is a very good free TV app. You could get Sling TV app, it would cost you $19.99 per month (Gives you about 20 channels). There is a NBC and ABC app. Lots of weather and news channels for free. No local channels though. You would need to get an antenna for getting local channels (not through the fire tv stick), it would work through your tv.

Definitely nice to have. As for having to have one for each room, that just depends on whether you'd like to permanently have one set up in each room or want to move the device each time you want to watch something in another room.
