• You can absolutely send emails, photos and text messages using this iPad, as long as you’re connected to WiFi. You don’t need the cellular model to do that.

• Yes, you can as long as you’re connected to WiFi. Without WiFi it won’t send or receive messages. You can also use a phone as a mobile “hotspot “
