Joy cons seperate from unit. Then become 2 player ready. Use a lil finesse getting them off and on. Till you get used to it.

Yes. A joy-con controller has two parts. One left and one right. You'll also get 2 cap sort of parts which attaches into each joycon that add R/L triggers to individual controller. Then you can play with 2 players.
