Thank you for your question. The 1500VA Battery Back-up System is not intended for appliances and would not be recommend for a tank less water heater.

My tankless system is a propane system and uses 120 VAC only to power the igniter and circuit board. We can have unexpected power outages and I was concerned that someone could be in the shower and instantly lose hot water while all soaped up. I use the UPS for that function. Besides being able to supply the power needed for those times, it also protected the sensitive electronics in the on-demand heater.

Note that it is not appropriate to try to run an electric water heater or electric on-demand heater off it.

Yes this will work on a gas tank less water heater as long as it is just used for the ignition system, but not for an extended period of time.
