“I bought Forza horizon 5 with a game pass. The subscription lapsed but I just bought an Xbox live gold card but I can't play forza horizon 5. Is that because I let the subscription lapse? Is there any way to restore my game. Game shows installed”

You can only play the game if you have the game pass or if you purchase the game, if your game pass is inactive you'll have to either reactivate it or buy the game. The game pass is great, it comes with xbox live also so it's definitely a better deal than just getting xbox live.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You cannot play a game purchased on game pass without game pass being active. I had the same issue and just decided to physically purchase the game so I can play it no matter what. I hope this helps.
