Q: QuestionI need to replace a GE Profile microwave PEM31SM1SS. Would the new version PEM31SFSS fit in the same trim kit as the older version? It's a 12" deep cabinet. Thanks.

• A:Answer Hi - Thank you for your interest in a new GE Profile microwave. If the kit to which you're referring is the built-in kit that allowed you to build your microwave into a cabinet. The kit from your existing model is not compatible with the new microwave. You will also need the JX827SFSS built-in kit. If the kit to which you're referring is what allows you to suspend the microwave from your cabinet to save countertop space, we would recommend purchasing a new hanging kit as well. There is a possibility that the brackets and bolts needed for the new microwave are different than what was used on the existing model. All our best! Vikki@GEA

Q: QuestionI want to replace a GE Profile microwave that is mounted under a cabinet. The model is PEM31DM3WW manufactured Oct 2010. It’s 23 3/4 inch wide, 10.5 inch Height and 12 inch depth. What replacement model would work best here?

• A:Answer Hi - We currently offer two microwaves that can be mounted under a cabinet using our hanging kit. One is the PEM31DFWW which measures 12 1/8 H x 24 W x 12 7/8 D and as you can see the size of this microwave has changed somewhat over the years. We also offer the smaller capacity JEM3072 series models which measure 10 1/8 H x 17 1/4 W x 13 D. We do hope one of these models will work for you. All our best! Vikki@GEA

Q: QuestionNeed to replace a built in Bosh microwave - microwave is 23 1/2inches long and 13 inches high - opening inside the trim kit is 24 1/2 inches long and 13 1/4 inches high - what will fit into the opening without having to replace the trim kit?

• A:Answer Hi - We offer a select number of microwaves that are designed for built-in installation when using GE brand built-in kits. We do not have information as to the compatibility of our models with other manufacturer's products. Our recommendation would be to remove the existing kit in order to obtain the actual opening available in your wall or cabinet and then check to see if there are available models that will fit that space. Q: QuestionI have Microwave Model Number PEM31SM1SS. The door release operates only on the bottom tine (see photos). Can this be repaired? If not, can I purchase a new unit with identical dimensions? (It sits in a cabinet recess with close fit custom dimensions).

• A:Answer Hi - We are sorry to hear about the difficulty you are having with your microwave. While this model is a repairable item, it will require a service technician to provide a proper diagnosis and repair cost. The dimensions of the current comparably featured model is slightly different. If your unit was installed in a custom enclosure and the built in wall kit wasn't used, this may present a problem for you. The current model PEM31SFSS measures: 12 1/8 H x 24 W x 12 7/8 D. Your existing model measures: 11 3/16 H x 23 25/32 W x 12 9/32 D. We do hope this helps. All our best! Vikki@GEA

Q: QuestionI am on my second PEM31SF1SS microwave and now it is only working intermittently. The first had an issue with the door. I don't have any other options with my existing space, but I wanted to know if this was normal. My current unit is two years old.

• A:Answer Hi - We are so sorry to hear about the issue you're having with this model and your previous unit. If you place this unit on your countertop or a small table where you have 3" air clearance on the left and right sides and at the top, as well as 1" clearance in the rear, does the intermittent operation continue to occur? If it doesn't, there's a possibility the microwave when installed in the previous manner may not have been getting adequate airflow which can result in the microwave shutting down. Q: QuestionCan I hang the PEM31DFWW from a 24" wide cabinet, sandwiched between other cabinets? The actual space between the cabinets that would be on the microwave's sides is 24 1/16. Or does the MW need clearance on its sides?

Q: QuestionI have a very small space. Just took out a hood vent. I want to put this microwave in it’s place. Dimensions are 24”W - 12”Height - 12” Deep. Can I install this microwave without a trim kit?
