  • QuestionI have a buit in GE pem31dm3ww microwave. Paint is peeling and fan runs when door is open. Want to replace it, what are my options if I want to keep the white trim kit I have?

    Asked by vrr.

    • Answer Hi vrr- This is Sue at GE Appliances. It's great to hear from you! Thanks for your loyalty. We are sorry to hear of these issues and glad to offer assistance. The latest model is our GE PROFILE™ SERIES 1.1 CU. FT. COUNTERTOP MICROWAVE OVEN PEM31DFWW. It is compatible with OPTIONAL 30" BUILT-IN TRIM KIT JX830DFWW and OPTIONAL 27" BUILT-IN TRIM KIT JX827DFWW. The only difference between the 27" and 30" trim kit is the trim frame. If the microwave is installed over a 27" or 30" wall oven, be sure to match the trim kit width to the oven. Also, a trim kit consists of the trim frame, as well as an upper, lower, and rear duct that attaches to and encases the microwave inside the cabinet cut-out. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for that model. We suggest to view the Quick Specs at the following link for details: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=240380_pem31df_c2.pdf - Thanks for reaching out to us. • QuestionHello, I've got an island cubby that measures 26"h x 27"w x 14" d and need a microwave that will fit. I like the PEM31SFSS, is that the best one for the space? Will I have problems with it sliding around as we push the buttons or open the door? thx 4 help

    Asked by measure2wicecut1nce.

    • Answer Hi measure2wicecut1nce- Thanks for viewing our Countertop Microwaves! PEM31SFSS is approximately 12 1/8" high x 24" wide x 12 7/8" deep. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. We recommend 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the countertop or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. If located on the counter near a range, we recommend locating it at least 2 feet away. Do not place near or above a heat source. Also, GE® 0.7 CU. FT. CAPACITY COUNTERTOP MICROWAVE OVEN JEM3072SHSS is approximately 10 1/8" high x 17 1/4" wide x 13" deep. Thanks for checking with us!

  • QuestionI need to replace a GE "Profile" white microwave, model # PEM31DMIWW . The microwave slides into a cabinet that is 24" wide by 115/8" High. The Depth is 127/8". What is the replacement model? Please advise. Thank you.

    Asked by JohnnyO.

    • Answer Hi JohnnyO, I am happy to help. The closest replacement is model PEM31DFWW. The actual dimensions are (HxWxD) 12 1/8 in x 24 in x 12 7/8 in, so if you have it just sitting in a space it will not work. If you have your current unit built in, you just need to use one of the optional kits that is compatible with the new model: JX827DFWW JX830DFWW. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Countertop Models: 3" of clearance on both sides and the top 1" clearance in the rear The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. If you need something to simply sit in a cutout, view model JEM3072DHWW. Thank you for checking with us. Lisa from GE Appliances.

    Asked by Golda.

    • Answer Hi Golda- This is Sue at GE Appliances. We certainly appreciate your loyalty! Thanks for making GE Appliances a part of your home. The comparable model is our GE PROFILE™ SERIES 1.1 CU. FT. COUNTERTOP MICROWAVE OVEN PEM31DFWW. This countertop microwave oven is built-in capable with a sleek matching trim kit: OPTIONAL 27" BUILT-IN TRIM KIT JX827DFWW or OPTIONAL 30" BUILT-IN TRIM KIT JX830DFWW. A built-in capable microwave will list the 27" and 30" trim kit for that model in the product specifications. The only difference between the 27" and 30" trim kit is the trim frame. If the microwave is installed over a 27" or 30" wall oven, be sure to match the trim kit width to the oven. Microwave trim kits are designed to provide a built-in look while also providing air flow necessary to the microwave. A trim kit consists of the trim frame, as well as an upper, lower, and rear duct that attaches to and encases the microwave inside the cabinet cut-out. • QuestionCan the GE Profile Series 1.1 Cu Ft microwave reside on an upper cabinet shelf, 12 inches deep?

    Asked by BurrowingOwl.

    • Answer Hello BurrowingOwl - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. The approximate exterior dimensions of this microwave are: 12-1/8" high x 24" wide x 12-7/8" deep. In addition, countertop microwaves require the following air clearances: 3 inches on each side; 3 inches on the top; 1 inch in the rear. In cabinet installation for countertop microwaves is not recommended without the use of a built in kit. Built in kits will be listed for specific models in their specifications. If a built in kit is not available, the above air clearances are necessary. Microwaves cannot be mounted over a range unless they are specifically made to be an over-the-range model, with a vent included. We hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
