“If I were to get a wireless monitor so that I can have 2 externals with dual display (as opposed to mirror), would that work with this laptop? An HDMI splitter will only allow for mirroring and the other USB ports are SS only.”

Hit the Windows key and the letter "p" at the same time to change the way the second monitor works.

However, you can also attach a hub with an HDMI port via USB Type-A or USB Type-C. You will have a wider selection of monitors from which to choose and it will probably be a more affordable option.
