I had to remove the optical drive and flip the drive cage out of the way (there are a couple of screws to remove). There are procedures and diagrams on HP's website under the support documentation. Was not difficult but the RAM.slots are a VERY tight fit, use care and anti-static (ESD) protection. Hope that helps.
