“I was very spoiled by my 19" 1080p Samsung's picture and was wondering if there are any specific picture mode settings/ranges I could use on this 1080 TV to improve picture quality, including sharpness? Not as happy with the picture in comparison.”

• Try increasing the backlight. I was disappointed as well but after some adjustments it is better than it was.
