Yes. There is a button on the t.v. that automatically updates the app if it needs it, then it will start. You must put in your user and password the first time. Also, if you have a stick or box, like Amazon Fire Stick or Apple T.V. plugged in, it works that way also, with a separate remote. I find the app on the t.v. is different from the Apple T.V. app.
