I had the same issue in my 5 y/o washer machine and after several attempts to fix it, replaced the lid lock, I found a video in YouTube where a guy just added a piece of paper foil to the power button and that fixed the issue. The guy showed a power button with a coil but mine has a foam pad. What I did was to take another foam pad from the panel control and replaced the one at the power button and this simple fix saved us $1,000 on a new washing machine. I hope this helps someone else.
