as long as it supports the weight of about 60 pounds you're fine. the TV will 'stick out' on both ends, but if you don't care about that then no biggie. My tv sits on a slightly smaller stand, and sticks out 3" which is barely noticeable. with a 45" tv stand your TV will stick out at least 6" on each side. If that doesn't bother you then go for it!
