36 month battery life, it takes 2 AA batteries, and 2 Duracell batteries are included with purchase.

It uses 2 X AA's. I still have the batteries in that came with it. I haven't really had it all that long so can't speak to the battery life yet. I use it many hours per day and I'm 'expecting' that it will be longer than some other's as that's part of the promotion for this model. I hope this is helpful.
