“if i bought this monitor for the ps5 which will support up to 4k at 120fps so it should be able to 1080p at 144fps/hz for this monitor what i’m wondering is if the hdmi port on this monitor supports 144hz... or do i need to look into an adapter or what?”

HDMI Does not support 144hz, you’ll need to use a Display Port cable from your device (if the PS5 has one) to the monitor, however display port does not support sound currently so a headset or a audio cable would also be needed
