A:Answer After you buy the OOma equipment your monthly cost for your phone and "answering machine" service from Ooma basic is $0. Note you will still be charged your local, state and 911 fees enforced by your local area but you can not get around those fees. If you want an exact cost visit the Ooma website and put in your zip code for your specific areas fees. In west ny mine is $6.66 go figure, also keep in mind there is a 1 time fee of transfering a number you currently own to this service. That fee is $40 plus local fees, they advise it could take 1 month for your current carrier to release your current number to Ooma but mine personally was done in 1 week. As with any company these days they always offer you a free trial for their higher teir service when signing up which is "Premier" a $10 a month fee which includes call filtering and many other options do yourself a favor and opt out of this free trial to reduce your annoyance in 2 months when you forget to cancel it unless you need it. Ooma is a great service and I have had it for about 1 year 100% recommend, you may need to tweak some online portal options but outside of that it only takes minutes to set up
