You technically can control them to some capacity through Bluetooth. But, you really need the hub to get full use. If you're not looking for that, then I'd recommend the Sylvania bulbs. They're a fraction of the cost and you don't need a hub. They're controlled right from the app on the phone. Again not quite as much functionality as hue bulbs with a hub, but really pretty good. I have both brands and wish I'd have saved the money and gotten only Sylvania.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Without a bridge (hub), it will use Bluetooth connection (33ft max distance) and only have ability to control up to 10 lights. And you can't group the lights into zones, and it has basic routines. With the bridge, it will use Zigby protocol (instead of Bluetooth) and can control up to 50 lights reaching greater than 33ft, so you don't have to be in the same room) and can also allow control from outside the home by enabling remote access.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If it has the Bluetooth symbol it doesn’t need a hub but will also work with one. They have 2 different apps. I don’t know what the differences are. The BT bulbs are more expensive so it wouldn’t take much to pay for the hub. I believe the hub gives more versatility. Go to the Hue website they probably have the answer, or if not call them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need a hub for your setup. If u are already using one, these lights can be added
