• That is I believe if you want to hook up a game system. But most new TVs have them built in. But yes you will have to buy one just make sure you buy one long enough. Hope I helped.

• If a smart tv, no. The TV can be connected through your wifi. Fire, roku have there own lil hdmi cable that connects to your tv hdmi ports. Those are also wifi.
