“Can this model be installed under a 12inch deep cabinet, I don't mind it sticking out but I'm worried that we wont be able to attach it to the bottom of the cabinet since the microwave is 16 1/2 in deep”

Yes, you can use 12"cabinet according to the manual. Maximum cabinet depth above and bedside the unit is 12". I tried to attach picture of manual.
