“Are there controls on the tv that allow it to be operated without the remote (in case I lose or misplace the remote).”

• There is a control button on the lower right side (as looking at the TV from the front) on the back of the TV. Also, I've found that every Samsung TV/monitor remote I own works with any model TV/monitor, so if you have other remotes they'll work too.
