• It does a great job of upscaling regular blu-rays as well. Some of the blu-ray movies that were mastered in 4K such as Life of Pi look almost as good as the UHD blu-ray.

• The UBD-K8500 will upscale regular blu-ray movies to 4K. It does an outstanding job. If you have a high end 4K TV you might want to try the TV upscaler as well.

• It will enhance a conventional Blu-ray to a very respectable resolution. I have heard that there are mixed reviews for connection to the Sony Bravia sets with the upscaling ... something to do with the Bravia upscaler and the UBD-K8500 upscaler fighting each other. Makes ya wonder why they can't just play nice.

• It WILL enhance a regular Blu-ray, but it will be somewhat less than 4K resolution of course.

• Yes, it upscales content from Blu-Ray disks and frankly, they look pretty good. Keep in mind you have to view the content on a 4K TV (duh) to see the enhancements.
