“Does the drive have a disk activity light that blinks when the drive is accessed? I'm asking because I once used a Seagate external drive that did not have this light (or maybe it was defective).”

There is a light that you can manually set to be on or off through Seagates desktop interface. The lights intensity fluctuates when files are being accessed/copied but I wouldn't say it's blinking. It's quiet, USB connection only- no power cord needed. I love this drive!

As far as I can see it doesn't blink. I have mine hooked up to my Xbox One Project Scorpio Edition; the light is always steady. I hope this helps.

Yes, it has an activity light, on the left top corner, that blinks when the drive is accessed.
